Help, car wonít start after running over a dead carcas...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Driving along see a dead coon or possum on the road, figure it was low enough I wouldnít hit it but did...

A few moments later the CEL starts flashing and get a lot smoke from the tail... I was literally a minute from home so I parked the car and now it wonít start at all...

Just cranks and cranks and cranks.

    Thoughts...?

Help, car wonít start after running over a dead car as...

Maybe, in a final post-mortem act of revenge, the ex-critterís passage under the car has nicked a fuel line. That would account for the strong fuel smell. The resulting drop in fuel pressure would starve the injectors, giving you the cranking without the expected follow through.

Would this scenario make the fuel pump buzz much louder than normal when I open the door...?

This was my first thought. Only option is to get it on jack stands and take a look.

I may be wrong, but doesnít the lp fuel pump kick on when you open the drivers door to ensure you have pressure? If so, have somebody open the door while inspecting. The leak should be obvious.
    Curious what you find .....

Edit: missed the above reference to electric fuel pump. I suppose itís possible that it could be louder trying move more fuel if the leak is substantial.

Fuel pump is very loud but nothing coming out under the car when opening the door...

Guess Iíll have to have it towed to the dealer... 🙄

Would rather take it to my indy shop but the tow there would cost the additional money Iíll prolly spend at the dealer...

The title of this thread on the forum said "Help, car wonít start after running over a dead car as...". I was like, "Impressive."

My drive to work is littered with dead coons, opossums, squirrels, armadillos, etc. Another reason not to do coilovers, I guess.

I hope you get a clear response and it is merely a pulled fuel line.
Also, AAA for the win. I have made good use of it since I signed up.

I hit a squirrel this morning...first time ever. Of course, it was in my wife's MKS.. ...cuz my S5 is at the friggn shop...again . I think I'd spend the extra tow money to take your ride to your indy shop. Audi service is like 1000 leeches on your wallet...

Took it to my indy shop due to Audi dealer telling me itíd be at least a week before they could diagnose it... 🙄🙄🙄

Apparently 2 of my fuel injectors crapped out, and replacing them will be $1200 or do them all for $2100...

So hitting that dead thing didnít mean a thing, total coincidence... 🙄

Gonna do them all cause if another craps out Iím looking at another $500 in labor later...

Have you considered JHM rebuilt injectors? 480$ for the lot if you send them your old ones I believe..

Iím in a similar boat 2010 b8 with 74k. Had carbon clean done last year but itís looking like some faulty injectors due to more misfiring. Figure I should do them all in one pass as well
