    Cracked OEM rim on 2010 C6 3.0T Quattro - I'm guessing that's not normal...

    Hi, AoA!

I went into Costco tire center to have a slow leak fixed, but they couldn't find damage to the tire, but the thorough tech found that there was a crack (with a small warp) in the rim. Is this normal for an OEM rim? Is this something that Audi USA will replace? I've heard of rims getting warped, but not cracked, as that is a huge safety concern, as the whole wheel could have catastrophically failed. What is the policy on this? Thank you in advance, Michael.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and making us aware of the current situation with the crack in your rim. If possible, can you PM me your information so that I can open up a case here on your behalf?

    Hello,

Not sure how to PM my info to you, as I didn't see your contact info, so I will just send it to you here.

Please email me back with your contact information so that we can get the ball rolling. I have included a pic of a car (not mine, but a C6 with the same rims), and the front, driver's side rim is the one in question. I haven't taken a pic of the rim, but will do so tomorrow, and send it to you then.

    Have a Happy Father's Day!

    Thank you,

    Michael

Update: got the rim fixed by a rim and wheel restoration specialist that I found off of Yelp.

I did just get it done about 9 months ago, before we went on a short road trip to L.A., as I hadn't found anyone who could guarantee me that they could fix it. Well, this guy I found not only fixed it, but also got me a new Continental tire mounted to it, to match the rest of the tires on the car, to spec. Decent price, too. Cheaper than buying a new rim, and competitive with buying a refinished wheel on eBay or elsewhere.
