While it does appear initial supply of RS5 Coupes is out pacing demand, and dealers are now discounting to move them, that trend seems little different than S5 coupe vs S5 Sportback; the latter were flying off the shelves, so to speak, while coupes remained in inventory longer and had bigger discounts. I think buyers are just showing preference for the 4-door version, which has the added utility of being a hatchback, along with the Sportback design being a hit with the marketplace in general. So lagging RS5 Coupe sales, even if true, likely has ZERO impact on when RS5 Sportbacks arrive. If anything, Audi are probably wishing they could move UP delivery of the SB.

There have been reports of RS5 Coupes being held at port (as TTRS and RS3 models were earlier this year, for months). Something like that could potential impact delivery timetables for the Sportback if channels are full or whatever the coupes are being held for effects SBs, etc.

I have an indirect source at the top of product management with AoA, including responsibility for the A/S/RS5 model range. I've pinged them to see if there are any changes in the timetable for the RS5 Sportback in the US and will report back if they have anything to share.

A buddy of mine is a director of marketing for Audi Canada and he said the RS5 Sportback in still on track for Q4 2018. He said it'll probably be mid to late November.

Last word I had was July for customer orders. The SB launch will be similar to the Coupe's, where initial units will all be from dealer allocation (and mostly with some minimal level of spec). Those cars will begin production ahead of customer orders and arrive in US dealers first (ahead of customer spec'd units).

Has anyone else contacted their dealers in the US to see if this is accurate ?

The latest info I got from my dealer was that they received the 2019 order sheets this month for the A6, A7, A8 and Q7. Said that the RS5 Sportback is likely still a couple months out but nothing firm. If that's the case though it seems like deliveries Q1 is becoming more likely.
