Tuned and been to the dealer yet?

Obviously some trips to the dealer they won't be scanning your car. And, if that is the case it's not really relevant to this discussion. Let's try and keep it slim so that others can check this thread for that info.

Let us know how it went.

Curious on this ratio as well... I asked my service manager after the purchase and they will warranty flag a tune unfortunately... but they were cool with any exhaust or suspension mods.

They will still scan you car if doing any warranty work.. You should probably flash back to stock a day before you take it in.

Its a third party coming to touch up a fender. Don’t think they will scan. It’s not even going inside the bay. Only the detail section. But i guess i should be cautious anyway right?

All I know is if I was taking my car to a dealership and handing them the keys I would not have an active tune on my car.

You are probably right, but the risk of them TD1'ing the car so easily I would be stock if it were me, since you have the cable, should be easy...

Pretty easy answer to this one, if your worried about getting caught don’t tune the car. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

I've never had a problem with any of my numerous tuned cars (both ECU and TCU) when flashing back to stock file before any trip to the dealership. Been doing that for over 10 years and 3 different Audis. But yea, as QShip mentioned...if you're worried, don't tune your car. If you have mods on your car and you end up coming in for something major, say a blown turbo or something, they're going to dig, and chances are even if you flashback they could find something that's enough for them to TD1 hammer you. Pay to play and all that fun.

Of course pay to play is in the back of everyones minds, but hell, no need to just throw caution to the wind and take a tuned car to the delaership needlessly when you have the damn cable to flash back to stock in hand. You may as well walk in and literally ask them to TD1 your car... would you do that? No. Then remove the tune while the car is at the dealership. Its 20 mins total of your time.

    Lol

My VW dealer was the best, go in there tuned with K04 and the whole nine yards and didn’t care. Sure do miss that.

No TD1 or any of that nonsense.

Think of it this way ... every owner of a car like this is probably presumed to be the cheating SO of Audi. Taking your car in is like leaving your phone unlocked with your messaging apps open. Audi IS going to pick up that phone, read those messages and then everything goes to shit, but the only tears will be yours when they punch in that TD1.

I heard even if you flash back to stock they can see if there was ever a flash because the computer keeps records of any ecu changes/flashes. I don't know if this is obvious up an front or if they have to dig a little deeper to get to this screen or something and may only do that if there is a real engine issue or something. Thoughts?

Eurodyne has a flash now for the rs3 and ttrs. Their customer support was not ideal - no 800 number to call. But I’ve had no issues with TD1 on the s3 when flashing back to stock and going in for AUDIcare, emissions inspection or checking for misfires.

Flash back to stock and put at least 50miles to clear any residual codes.

Flash counter getting reset helps also.

It's not the dealer that will flag you. It's the manufacturer. As soon as the car is scanned it matches that data against the manufactures data. I would strongly recommend that you don't ever go to the dealer flashed.
That said. Most tunes will leave a trace as the ECU has a counter on it for interactions and in some cases Audi, I can't speak to VW, has flagged cars only due to this. The dealer is then forced to observe this of course.
In some case you might be able to get the shop manager to turn a blind eye when your car is in and NOT have it scanned. But, if you are having warranty work you will get scanned. This is standard practice.

Obviously some trips to the dealer they won't be scanning your car. And, if that is the case it's not really relevant to this discussion. Let's try and keep it slim so that others can check this thread for that info.

Do the dealers scan the car for an oil change?

With my B5 and B8. They did and did not in both cases. It's so easy to re-flash that anytime I go to the dealer I took the tune off. You never know what the process is. So I thought it best to not risk it.

Taking your tune off still will show your ECU was modified. Just tell your dealer upfront.

The majority of us are aware of this. Would still be nice to hear from tuned owners regarding their experience.
