My Beige bomber is getting some stance!

I really want to say thank you to @Chicago Phantom for meeting up with me so I could buy a few parts from him, the prices for the parts I bought were quite fair, and I look forward to doing some installation, I bought a set of RS6 springs from him, a trunk lip spoiler, and some door blades.

The blades are in great shape and were obviously removed with care, the spoiler is also quite pristine, both the blades and the spoiler are already getting a fresh coat of paint to match my car, I hope to put them all on in the coming weeks.

The springs will be the thing Iím most excited about, going from the stock ďmoon roverĒ stance that my fine melange colored 2000 2.7t 6-speed A6 has to a more aggressive look with the RS6 springs, combine that with the blades and lip spoiler I think it will really get me grinning. When I install the springs Iím also replacing the front suspension arms, inner and outer tie rod ends(one is seized up so I canít align it)

I just hope with itís new look itís still just as invisible to the local law officers as it has been, that champagne paint really gives it a Grandpa-mobile look.

Again, thanks Chicago Phantom for the great parts!

Whew. I thought you were crapping on the white pearl that my car has (off white pearl, really)...glad to see it is a totally different color. Some people love my color, some hate it. I like it, but my dream is to paint it nogaro blue, nardo gray or merlin purple. Oh, if it were only cheap to do a full color change. :(

Congrats on the parts and good luck on the install.

Hey, thanks for the kind words!
If rain wasn't so persistent we could've shoot more about C5.
I never saw a prefacelift C5, actually not even a facelift C5 that's loaded as yours and that it's not S or RS car.
Color isn't bad at all, I like it and the best part is 6 speed manual.
Best of luck and reach out if you need anything.

I just need to get going on it LOL! I spend every day fixing cars, when the day is done I just want to head home, not work on my own car... I have 2 lifts, torches, a press, every tool Iíd need (except one, thanks again Chicago Phantom!) the fact rhat I can replace all the suspension arms, the tie rod ends, the springs, and then align it in a few hours doesnít change the ďIíll do it later, Iím tiredĒ mentality..

Funny thing is that I heard that yesterday from a fellow enthusiast who runs exhaust shop.
He was like I don't need an older car, the last thing I want to do is wrench on mine after a long day at work.
Hop in and turn key is what I need.

C5's are not that demanding, it's just the age and lack of maintenance what makes problems in some cases.

My plan is to get the suspension done Friday or Saturday, but if time is a crunch I might just do the valve cover gaskets and hold out on suspension until school letís out, I will have more time since picking my son up from school wonít be a factor, I want to clean and rebuild the rear calipers as preventitive maintenance...

Perhaps I should have titled this thread ďGrainreaperís A6 rebirthĒ

Today after getting off work at 12:30 I pulled in my car and got busy on the suspension... I installed the springs from the RS6, rears were easy enough to do, removed the lower eccentric bolt, loosened the inboard 2 lower arm bolts, pulled the rear shock bolt and 2 mounting bolts, disconnected the e-brake cables and dropped the lower arms down to get the struts out. Easy as can be..the fronts were the struggle, I was worried about that upper arm capture bolt that runs through and holds both upper ball joints as I've heard they can be a bear to get out..... I ran the nut off and slid the bolt out easy peasy! The lower arms weren't much trouble either but the damn ed outer tie rod ends killed me,I had to torch the ends to break em free from the inners, and I had to hammer forever to get the ends out of the knuckle, I swear I'm half deaf from the air hammering! I finally got it all done and aligned by 3:40.

It looks a little lower, I'm sure it will settle in a little, I forgot to loosen and retighten the suspension bolts when it was on the alignment rack so I'm sure the bushings are keeping it up a little... the car feel amazing now that it has all new arms up front, new sway bar links, stiffer springs, and a proper alignment to RS6 specs,I'll take a couple pics at work Monday to show the car in the same spot for comparison

Slowly my car is coming together, I still have less than $1000 invested in buying the car, the suspension parts, and all the goodies from Chicago Phantom..

Never got to that picture, perhaps tonight I can take one, took the family on a drive to Wisconsin dells for some Waterpark fun! The bomber drove like a dream, smooth as can be, the air was freezing everyone out, I love this car! As I pulled up at the hotel a guy said he loved Audi and started asking about the car. He commented that he liked the exhaust sound as i pulled in, then he started asking if it was fast, how it handled, etc... I was quite surprised, he is only the second person to even take notice of the car..... Chicago Phantom was the first LOL!

I just spent an hour cleaning the glass, finally took the time to wash them, clean with alcohol on the inside of the windows, scrubbed and used a good glass cleaner, the outsides were cleaned, alcoholed, scrubbed with a fresh magic eraser, recleaned, then clay baríd 3 times, cleaned again with alcohol, glass cleaner, and finally a good waxing.

The glass looks fantastic! And no dragging at all on a fresh microfiber towel, it is as smoothe as.... well.... GLASS! :D
