Hi guys, the last couple of week my 55000km RS5 was feeling a bit asthmatic, so overthe weekend I thought Il give cleaning the intake valve a try. First thing I noticed was how much more complicated are these cars compared to my FD RX7, remembering where things go later on proved to be a challenge, but I managed eventually with only 1 fault code lol.

I was surprised how dirty the valves were after only 55000 km, it was caked up and I thought it was a good call to crack her open. I did everything by hand (not recommended)and used Liquimoly decarb spray which essentially turns the caked up hard carbon into oil like substance, plenty of satay skewers (bamboo, nothing metalic) and a detailing brush kit.

Result was night and day, the car breathes freely now and Im booked in af Audi to clear the faulty code in a couple of days. The result as you can see are nuts, its not perfect but its much better than before...... so I am happy...

Did you use a crank tool to cycle the slightly open cylinders shut before cleaning?

    Thanks for the pics!

Doesn't look like the car is in the service position. Any gotcha moments?

I didnt, I just pressed the start button release it very quickly to turn the cam. But crank tools might be a better way of doing it.

yes, take pictures of everything before dismantling, there are buttloads of vacuum hoses etc under there. And doing it with a walnut blaster would have been so much faster and get better result.
