LED Puddle lights - What does this jumper wire do?

Got a set of cheapo LED puddle light off of eBay. They came with this odd little jumper harness. For the life of me, I can't figure out exactly what it does.
Lights won't work without them. I put my Fluke meter on it, and no resistance. De-pinned them to find out they are just wires jammed in a plastic connector.
What kind of sorcery is going on here?

Aren't they just taking the strange connector on the puddle light to connect into the audi connection type? It's just an extension cable basically.

Yup - these LED lights seem to work in multiple cars but the connector plug isn't necessarily compatible. I just plugged the little cables into the pins, wrapped the connections with electrical tape to make sure things don't detach from vibration and replaced; all working a treat.

Yeah, just a physical adaptor. The light has micro or junior timer contacts, but our cars must use MQS (tiny square pin).
