How to get ashtray cover spring loading / auto close to work?

    Hi All,
Well, my helpful wrap shop volunteered to rewrap my front ashtray compartment after I asked if they had some extra material as I wanted to correct a couple imperfections from my project. When I wrapped it, I never separated the top cover piece (it has the carbon fiber piece, and what that attaches to) because I didn't want to mess with the spring loading mechanism that does the soft close for this thing. So, I just jammed it open with a pencil...and I showed that to them last night, and lo and behold, they must've separated them and now it doesn't auto-retract anymore. I can't figure out if there's something missing or if something is broken.

Anyone know how to put these two pieces together so that the ashtray cover does the auto-close again? It seems like something needs to push against that spring as the cover moves back so it loads the tension, but I don't see that happening at this point. Anybody see anything missing or broken?

    TIA,
    Per

OK, not rocket science...but I was thrown by that spring being hooked onto the part already, seemingly in the place where it was supposed to be. So, for anyone else that may not have their coffee one day as they're working on this:

To do this right...make sure the 'coil' is NOT hooked onto the part as shown below, but instead, that it's hooked on to the indicated part in the 2nd pic.

You do so by extending that coil out while you feed the cover onto its tracks, and then hooking it on.

Yay </sarcasm>. Have a nice day.
