Glad I got mine in December which was still 2 years and 50K
This is my first CPO I ever buy, and honestly, it was a complete waste of money.
It added roughly $5000 to the price of this car compared to another comparable one I was looking at with same specs
If we had a lot of issues I never had with my standard used 2013 S5 I had earlier
Never getting CPO again, you want a good car you have to go and look at it yourself , in great detail

    Never said it did
I said the car I got was 5000 more than a comparable car that wasn't CPO
I'm sure most of that was dealer profit
But i got a car with many issues that should have been fixed before it was certified
Sagging headliner ( which will be replaced under warranty)
Front brake pads that had 2mm left after less than 4000 miles, which means it wasn't over 50% life when it was cpod
    Chip in front windshield

    I called Audi and complained
They said CPO is a dealer problem, and they can't intervene
    We can "facilitate discussion "
Dealer offered to pay half the $1200 cost to replace font pads, and the dealer recommends to change rotors with pads, hence the high cost

Sounds like you should have negotiated better.

If the rotors are fine, don't have them replace them. It is just a recommendation. Do you still have the original CPO paperwork? It includes their pad measurements. Make them replace them at no cost to you or keep complaining to AoA.

Sounds like a bait and switch to me.

"National ads touting extensive service requirements and service performed"

When problems arise AoA simply points the finger at dealer.

    And for 1 year.......give me a break

Mercedes has a similar program in place. The unlimited miles is a gimmick considering most wont even be close to reaching the 100k miles that they used to offer.

I think that CPO has two benefits though. You are getting a warranty on the car and when it was 2 years, it allowed you to see how reliable the car was over the two year period and whether or not you should purchase another extended warranty or not. They also replace all of the consumables that need to be done which is actually quite expensive. Figure if it needs 4 new tires, with mounting and balancing that is $1200-1500. Brakes could be another $1-2k depending on if it needs both pads and rotors etc. If it happens to need a major service that should be done too. Even if they replace $2k in consumables, you could easily make up the $3k in repairs if one larger thing goes wrong. A thermostat through the dealer on one of these cars is $800-1000. Then you factor in the peace of mind having a warranty gives you and it isnt that bad of a deal.

1200 for front pads, LOL. Thats like 100 bucks of parts and 60 minutes work, you can easily do it your self. IF you need new rotors, then an extra 80 per rotor, not much difference in time.

I got quoted $1150 at my local Audi dealership to replace front rotors AND pads. Pads alone should not cost $1200!

Oh and thank goodness I had CPO. Took my car to a dealership for 55K service and 5 days later it overheated! Had her towed to nearest dealership. Replaced faulty thermostat and leaking motor mount. $85 dollar copay. Replacing that thermostat could have been well over $1000 without warranty.

the 1200 was for pads And rotors, which is what I stated
dealer said "audi recommends changing the rotors with the pads otherwise you might have squealing brakes"
squealing brakes was my initial complaint, which is why they took a look and found out about the pads

CPO for the warranty aspect of it makes sense, I agree
but that whole 300 multipoint inspection BS means nothing

because I had more issues with this CPO car
than the last one I got used from small dealer in NY, which wasn't CPO

CPO would pay for itself if I ever get the transmission malfunction error

Oh yes. I would pay for it at any time. Two months ago I went to the dealer because I heard a little noise when the clutch was disengage, and also in first gear sometimes. They said initially was a bearing but after a week of testing they said the transmission needed to be replaced but AOA used to approved the replacement and now they want the dealer to repair it! Anyways, the dealer Audi of Charlotte spent over 2 more weeks in conversations with AOA until they got the replacement for me approved. Another week waiting for shipping and delivery from Germany and few days after was replaced. The dealer was excellent with me! The hardest part was returning the brand new SQ5 loaner they gave me for over a month. No loaner decals, fully loaded, black with red interior an only 100 miles when i got it. I put almos 1000 miles during that month.

Anyways they showed me their price of the repair and said it will be around 20% more what I would pay. I only ended pay $85 deductible.

And CPO does not mean squat for cosmetic. CPO 2014 S5 Cab. I admit when I was looking at it in the lot, the hood and bumper paint looked a shade off in certain light but I was not quite sure (and did not ask). The paint was fine with no chips. Shortly after owning it, I changed to a RS5 grille and found overspray around the stock grill and a few screws missing here and there. Obviously something had been done. There did not appear to be structural or mechanical parts replaced. Ok fender bender by previous owner. Well over a year, the front end paint (bumper, hood, front of fenders) had tons of stone chips. I went top the dealer and asked if they had painted it, because it was flawless when I bought it or if it was done just before the previous owner got rid of it. Note, during my talking to the sales people, one sales person showed me dealer paperwork listing everything done for to be CPO. Brakes, ECM reprogram (wonder if had a tune) concern over a slightly bent rim and some paint work. I overheard sales person being reprimanded for showing it to me.

It was a year after purchase when I asked about the paint. The gave me a lot of BS and questions on how may I drive (highway) and it was normal. Never mind the claim from them that one year of my driving was at fault. CPO did not cover the paint. I merely wanted to see paperwork I had seen. If they repainted the front, it should be warranted. If it was by the PO, ok. They claimed they did not know what the paperwork was and the sales person was no longer there. I simply wanted the written proof of the CPO work. No luck. After multiple complaints by me, they repainted the bumper (easy to do) hood and fenders would have to be stripped and they would not cover it.

I'm glad I heard about this change to the CPO program. I just picked up a 2015 S5 at a local Audi dealer. It only had 26k miles on it, so it still has the remaining factory warranty and prepaid Audi Care for 35k and 45k service. I did go with the Audi extended warranty to go from the original 4 year / 50k miles to an 8 year / 80k mile full bumper to bumper plan.

wow. that's a major downgrade the way I see it. It is nice they bring the car up to spec but shaving a year off the warranty no good if original one is about to expire. Not many are going to rtuly be able to take advantage of the unlimited mile part of the warranty.

Another issue popped up today... friend purchased a 2015 Q5 for his wife, CPO'd on April 26, 2018. Purchased 05/15/2018.

Paperwork from CPO inspection signed and dated 04/26/18... Audi said no to 2 year/50K CPO warranty, dealership fighting on behalf of friend as the car was sold with
the understanding that the CPO occurred BEFORE Audi announced new terms.

I don't really see that as being an issue. It was stated that all vehicles sold as cpo on or after 5-1 are now one year.

The issue is not the sell date, but the CPO date... it was completed and certified prior to the change date, with that cost added to the purchase price, and is readily stated on the all knowing, 100% factual, "they never make a mistake" CarFax. There has been no resolution yet, but it seems that the dealership will honor the CPO agreement as in place on 04/28/2018, as long as the car is serviced there.
