Recently bought a 2002 225hp Quattro 6spd AMU with a snapped timing belt. The valves are bent and I have two options. Send the head out to be rebuilt or install a remanufactured AEB head my friend will give me cheap.
Things I know...
*The AEB has bigger intake ports and needs a spacer to transition from the intake manifold
(bigger ports on a non BT car will result in slower spool)
*The SAI will need to be deleted.
*The Cam position wheel needs to be changed over.
*The AMU valve cover will be used
*VVT is a non issue
Things i still have question on....
*Will the AMU exhaust manifold bolt up without issue, If not, what needs to be done?
*I found on a forum that someone had issues with the crank gear and cam gear fitment with the timing belt (too close to block or something) and solved it by using the AEB gears. it was only mentioned in one thread so any truth
to that?
*Any other issues?
The head is off and im getting ready to order parts so any help is appreciated. TIA
