    Question about shift points(RS3)

I recently purchased a rs3 and this is my first time owning an automatic/dual clutch. In my previous cars I never shifted below 2k rpm for the health of the engine. But for the rs3 it shifts at around 1.5k and cruises at 1.2k and I feel like I would be lugging the engine if I pressed on the gas to make it accelerate at that low of a rpm. For example - it'll already be in 7th gear when i'm at 40+ mph. Is this normal operating range for this car or would I be better off in manual mode and finding my own shift points? I am not very knowledgeable about dsg's or german engines in general so any input is appreciated! Thanks

Never noticed this as an issue in mine. I do drive in the manual mode a lot, but not necessarily to avoid the DSG shift points. Do you notice this more in the comfort mode or dynamic mode?

I wouldn't characterize it as an issue, but just wondering if this is normal. I'm in comfort most the time for my daily commute. In my previous car, it was heavily modified and the engine was known for weak rods so I was always sure to keep it in the optimal rpm range. So I was mostly wondering if this low rpm range for operation was normal for these cars or if i'm better off shifting into s mode or manual mode

i found out that this is normal for the s3 and now the rs3 from what your saying. many on the forums have said audi has programmed the car to get better mileage by having the gears kick down. its only apparent to the 3 series line up with DCT's. the current way to alter this is to get a "dsg tune" from any of the many of the vendors that have created software for our cars. just tell them you have a stock ecu mapping and they will get you the right dsg mapping for your car.

Just put it in S mode or laddle shift for a more lively driving experience
