    Exclamation Trunk stopped working..

    2010 S5 151k miles.

Went hiking last weekend and brought my backpack. Was maybe 5 pounds total and I put it in the trunk.
I took a few hard corners, and heard a bang once from the bag hitting one of the sides.

When I got to the destination it didn't work. The cabin button nor the keyfob would open the trunk.
It's at the mechanic and it works fine when they put power to it, but the central computer won't send the lock signal they say.

Says it might be the central computer that needs replacing.... I have a hard time thinking that's the case.

Anyone had something like this happen?

That's a much less expensive fix than mine was. The upper trunk latch assembly broke on my S5 a couple years back on Christmas day. The only way to open it was to crawl through the back seat and manually release it. The upper assembly, go figure, was the ONLY failure relating to the trunk that wasn't covered by CPO warranty. I was quoted for nearly $500 to repair. $180 for parts, and the rest was labor. I bought the part and replaced it myself.

Hmmmm. My remote trunk release and the release above the license plate both stopped working this weekend. When pressing either release button I hear a Brrrrrrrrrr sound but nothing releases. Does this match your symptoms? How hard was it to replace?

Yep, that's exactly what mine was doing. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to replace. It's not the most difficult thing in the world to do, but it's also not the most fun. 4 letter words will be grumbled along the way.
