RS4-Purpose of coolant line running through PCV manifold adapter?

I recently did a carbon clean on my RS4 and was wondering what the purpose of the coolant lines running through this fitting? I'm assuming to keep the PCV gases warm so the don't condense in the PCV throat? Due to possibly removing the I.M. again in the near future I just by-passed this to make it easier to work on.

    Taken from JHM website

"This is a precaution for climates that are colder than 32f. They heat the intake elbow up to warm up the throttle body to help prevent throttle plate icing and a sticky throttle. So by warming up the intake elbow with 200f coolant this won\'t happen once the car is warm. However this is unnecessary in temps above 32f and only slows your car down by heating up the intake air."

I purchased the kit from JHM and have bypassed this as well. I've gone through at least 4 Canadian Winters and haven't had any issues.

Thank for the reply, but that (throttle plate sticking) doesn't make sense. This is in the manifold well after the throttle body.

Yea I know where it is. I have my intake manifold off right now to do a carbon clean. I've had my lines capped off for a while with the JHM kit. Their explanation is the only thing that sort of makes sense. The throttle body is shared with some GM vehicles so it may have cost more to run a throttle body that had coolant running through it.

I capped the ports on the flange and ran a new coolant line altogether.

It's for emissions, to keep the ccv vapor from condensing in cold temps.

    This.

Just bypassing the block and connecting the two lines together leaves those lines a little tight. I ran a new line as well for the extra slack.
