Nope. If I remember correctly by installing the switch headlights will come on anytime the vehicle is running, but I don’t think the high beams will work. It’s something funky. I tried it a few years ago just because I had an auto switch lying around that wasn’t peeling lol

It worked for me, but I do recall it being hit or miss depending on what factory features the car already had. Things like stock bixenon, comfort control module, welcome home feature stuff, etc.

    Well I'm probably screwed then.
I don't have xenons or the welcome home, small DRL switch or any kind of memory.

There's a kit on eBay for the C5s that comes with a switch and a light sensor. I saw it when I was considering buying an allroad. Dunno if it works on the B7, or if it's any good on the C5.

Do you know if all dimming mirrors have the rain sensor or just some?
Also do you know what the IR looking thing is in the middle of the dashboard?

So if I have the red thing does that mean it definitely has the sensor in it? Or is there a possibility it's empty?

That sensor has nothing to do with exterior lights.
