Please help identify this

Today when I took the engine cover off I noticed this not attached to anything. What is and what does it do. Do I need to attach it to something? Car is a b8.5 a4. Thanks!

No, it has some metal tubing that snakes around on top then behind the engine towards the firewall.

What year is your car? I have a 2014 B8.5 and I'll check before heading home from work.

It's a B8.5. I found out where it goes, but I still have no idea what it does. It attaches to a torx bolt between the coil packs. I must have taken it off when I changed the plugs.

Just checked my car, I have the same odd thing just sticking out. It's not connected to anything either..
