I'm mostly a lurker but looking for some help. First specifics on my car
2014 Audi S4 6MT Premium Plus with Sport Diff
No modifications
18,500 miles (yes, you're reading that right)
This past weekend I was out with the Audi Club GA at the yearly Quattro De Mayo event. On one of the drives with the group, toward the end the car stalled while in gear and driving 2 times and almost stalled a 3rd time. The 2 times it stalled it felt/sounded like when you stall a car in 1st gear while trying to get it moving. The time that it didnt stall, It exhibited the same behavior but did not stall. I don't clearly remember if I had pushed in the clutch or hit the gas.
The day of driving was not particularly hard on the car. It was moderate in terms of pace and acceleration etc. The weather was in the mid 70's. Car was running 93 Octane from BP. Its always been driven with top tier gas.
What was observed at time of engine stalling
- Car was in either 3rd or 4th gears
- Car was started using the start/stop button, not the key in the key hole
- Car had 1/3 of a tank of gas
- When engine cut out the all electronics stayed on
- No lights or warnings on dash, car also not in limp mode
- Plugged in VCDS to look for codes and malfunctions. NONE detected.
- The clutch engages fine, there's no resistance getting the car into any of the gears.
Have driven the car an additional 200ish miles since this happened. It has not happened again.
Anyone else experience something like this? I want to take it to the dealer but without any codes or the symptom being reproducable I'm not sure how much or what they can do? Anything I can look for myself to see if I can find the problem?
