Display Stopped working but pixels ARE NOT dead

Hello, I am sorry if this has been discussed before but I could not find any information about this issue from searching.

My display on my car (2001 a4 1.8tq) has stopped displaying the MPG info (and such) but still shows the radio area and the gears at the top and bottom. I know the pixels aren't dead because its still lit up and when I start the car it has the whole "put the brake on.." message that takes up the whole screen.

I checked some fuses but they were fine (unless i checked the wrong ones).

If anyone can give some insight on what happened and how to maybe fix it that would be great. I stopped and started the car a few times and it didn't start coming back up, I'm hoping a solution will not be difficult and/or expensive.

    Thank you in advance!

Did you accidentally hit the button on the bottom side of the wiper stalk?? Turns the info on/off and resets it.
