    Dog cover in back seat??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
With little movement on the sale, I might hold on to the car - part of the reason I wanted a new car was something a little more dog friendly. I have a rambunctious Boxer and my wife and I need my car to be a dog car too. My dog has never been in my car because she's just a little too "energetic" (she's a Boxer...) and I don't want her to damage anything....and I'm pretty particular about the interior of the car. Anyone have luck with a back seat cover with their dog? The alcantara seems really susceptible to damage. Just looking for advice if a dog cover actually works. Thanks

I take my dogs to my parents house every day in my s4. I use one of the hammock style Amazon ones.
Dogs are a 7 month old labrador and 7 year old boxer. Short of the lab nosing the window I have no issues.
How old is your boxer as they calm down a lot after 3 years.

I've had this hammock style cover for a year for my 60lbs mutt. She's energetic too. The hammock doesn't really show any signs of excessive wear and has rubber bubbles on the bottom to help keep it from sliding.

Aside from minor dog hair in the car, you'd never know she rides regularly

i have a hammock style but i never attach it to the front seats. the pooch likes ot put her head on my armrest
i would recommend getting one that has flaps to on either end and some tuck in material. this is what i have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i find that the hammock style covers that don't have either of those features move around too much and expose the outer portion of the seats
lastly, i found quite the opposite with the alcantara: i thought it was bulletproff

Question.....I have been thinking about these rear seat protectors for pets lately (thinking about getting a dog). Has anyone looked into a harness of any sort for the dog? Not so much to protect the car but to protect him/her in case of an accident. Seems like a logical move....like seat belts.

The one I posted a link for came with a seat belt adapter. There are zippers in the hammock that allow you to access the buckle receiver. The adapter is basically an adjustable short leash with a universal buckle attached.

If you have a chest harness for your dog, I think that would be safest to attach the leash to. The trouble I ran into was that my pup would get tangled up if I gave her some slack to move from window-to window. That would then result in her going full spaz and freaking out in the back. So she rides with no seat belt now. It's certainly not ideal, but my argument is that me being distracted while driving is far more dangerous than her not being 100% secure.

we have something like this for our dog https://www.chewy.com/ezydog-drive-d...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
its a pain in the ass but we use it on long trips. i've had to slam on the brakes before which has sent her flying into the rear of the passenger seat, but we also don't want her hitting the dash if she were to be between the 2 front seats.

I'm insane about keeping my car clean and I invested in the Audi one for my back seat. It's padded and covers the doors as well to minimize the risk of scratching the doors. I found that a lot of the hammocks didn't deal with the doors very well.

It is expensive but super worth it.

I just ordered some fabric samples from a seat cover place in Vancouver (they also manufacture in the US so no duty issues). It's called ShearComfort Seat Covers Ltd. They offer a wide variety of fabrics, many of which are kid and dog-proof, in a large choice of colors. Examples include fabric-covered neoprene and Cordura. You can opt for just front seats or back seats or both, with fitment guaranteed. They'll send you fabric samples at no charge and active duty military and veterans can get a 22% discount. Check them out at the link above!

Forgot to mention that once you choose "A4/S4" and go further in the ordering steps, you'll then select S4 specific for the taller seats with the integrated headrests for the front seats.

It's a shame Audi doesn't sell it anymore. That's perfect with the door protection.

I use a "Soggy Dog" cover to protect the back of the front seats, door panel covers, 2 towels and a regular bench seat cover. This combo works perfectly and protects everything in the back seat. I also have a bulldog that just goes to sleep, which makes it easier.

Nah. I don't typically get involved with car clubs. I just like doing my own thing. But if you're at the beach, I'm usually out there most Friday nights.

I usually fold the back seats and lock them down, and put my dogs padded bed on top and he lays on top of that. It prevents any damage to the seats and gives more room to move and the ability to see better as well. I'm surprised nobody else does this?

I should try putting my seats down. I am looking for a cover have connects to something other than the back of the front seats or can incorporate the seats that dont have a typical adjustable headrest like the S4 seats.

Being a great fan of traveling by car with my doggy and I worried a lot about the backseat condition. Finally, I can recommend to check dog car seat covers here.

Thanks for bringing this back. I was just thinking about what I need to cover the backseat for the dog.
