Need help on choosing new axles(stock power)

I’m looking to replace my driver front axle and wheel bearing (doing both while it’s apart) due to a noise and the boot is split open. Has anyone used Napa, Carquest, autozone axles?? I looked on ECStuning and they have $80 axles then $650 Audi reman axles 😱😱. This is going in my daily driver, 2004 Audi A4 Quattro 3.0 6-speed

Raxles for the axle, or refurbished oem units.

I've used Pepboys axles in the past on my b5.5 passat (pretty much the same front drivetrain as b6's). They worked fine but the boots seemed to develope tears after only 2yrs (lowered on sport springs). Our a4 however (stock non-sport suspension) with 150k is still on it's original axles and untorn boots. I'm going to try raxles though if/when they do go bad.

Thank you both. I’m gonna see what Raxle has. And if the Napa/carquest ines last only 2 years I’m ok with that as well. I just don’t want a vibration

It is likely your axles are ok, even with the boots torn.

I'd get them off and check them out first.
You can get boots and clamps, repack them and be done.
The outer CV comes off easily and you can peel the inner boot off from the outer cv shaft end.

Otherwise pick up one off of ebay..or even just the outer CV with the correct inner and outer spline counts.

my experience with raxles is this:

cv bolts rust within 1 year

cv joint is some brand that doesn't treat the surface, and it rusts too.

after only 2 years, inner and outer cv boots are cracked and leaking. My OEM passensger side axle, 15 years old and 271,000 miles, has original boots and no rust.

Raxles will rebuild for free, but you pay shipping both ways, and who knows how long the turnaround is? Raxles is in Florida. For a daily driver, do you have a spare car to drive for a week or more?

I bought OEM boots and rebuilt the raxle myself.

probably a good deal for those who only drive 10K-15K miles per year, and replace their car every three years or so. Not so much for the 'keep forever' crowd.
