Sold my A4 today...more disappointed than sad really. Don’t think I’ll ever buy another one. Great car, but for the money (purchase cost and maintenance) and resale value there are better options out there in my opinion.

I feel ya. I’m starting to realize that this small displacement turbo engine was never really a good idea. The S models are a better way to go. What cars are on your shopping list?

There's a shitt load of cars out there that are cheaper to maintain. This is a modern German auto, which one isn't high maintenance. We'll always find things to complain about in these cars. As far as resale value, that's used cars. Used luxury autos are even cheaper in places like Florida. If you aren't going to do the work yourself there's not much point in owning one out of warranty. Buy Japanese or American. I don't really see the point in buying an automobile for resale value.

Get an Infiniti M series, they're fast with lots of power and have an awd package - but Japanese. As soon as you get into one you know it and as it drives.

    Only teutonic for me.

If you're focused on total cost of ownership/mile, get out of Europe.

I just did the same thing. No regrets so far. A4s are great but for a true luxury car you can't beat going a class up.

You really think BMW's are a step up? I love the F10 don't get me wrong, but for me I wouldn't think of an upgrade as a BMW. I've had 3 BMW's build quality is so so...

There is literally nothing my B8.5 did that was more luxurious than this F10.

The F10 is a "Lux" car while the B8.5 is more of the "sporty" car. If you had an A6 the F10 would compare nicely.

xDrive (which this has) is fine for my commute, considering I work from home every time it snows. And the Targa more than takes care of my sports requirement.

Wait until you have to leave in the first snow storm, Xdrive isn't anything to compared to Quattro.

But no joke I came close to getting an F10 when I sold my M5. 80k sticker for the used cpo 550 kinda scared me though lol

Doesn't matter to me I don't drive in the snow, and when I do it'll be better than RWD so that's all that matters.

    In CT???

The xdrive system always returns to a rear-wheel bias which keeps most of the control away from the engine. It can ALMOST transfer all of the power to one axle in certain conditions contrary to a lot of info out there. It's electronically induced and you don't feel in control of your driving even at slower speed.

In the snow here you can't drive as aggressively and confident as with the mechanical quattro torsen. Xdrive seems to slip more when you try.

I wouldn't go that far. Xdrive is refined in its own right as a total drive by wire system. The argument for torsen is that if you lose complete, and I mean to zero, traction in one wheel then it can't mechanically engage the other to assist. Both can't send complete traction to one axle but xdrive is close. The xdrive rear wheel bias is fine in sunny weather but isn't as great in the inclement even though the traction control kicks in at a tenth of a second.

Probably a bad example but the best way I want to describe it it's the ESP of awd. It tries to keep things stable but that's all. Torsen quattro is still much better in the snow hands down and that's what I need.

Vonn is just jealous because these are actually my cars and not my mom's, unlike "his" Audi.

Nano and Flowhigh raise some valid points, Audi's Torsten Quattro is a better design. It's just not really relevant to me nor for most people who have AWD cars, if we're being honest.

    It’s been fun

I traded my A4 few months back because my car needs changed and I got a great deal on a new VW Alltrack SEL.

27k after 9k discount. It has 4motion, pano roof, adaptive cruise control, driver’s assistance package, adaptive headlights, Fender sound system, CarPlay... Quality leaps better than our Jetta TDI, but still love both cars. No oil consumption or questionable engine sounds anymore. No more Brilliant Black hell paint.

And I said I would never own a wagon...

Congrats. Traded my Wife's 13 Q5 which we loved for the 16 Golf Sportwagen SEL. Very Audi like and it's been a great little car. Just wish they'd offer a sportier version here in the states. They do offer the Golf R Sportwagen in Europe.

Haldex fwd 90-10 split, hmm.... Better at the pump though. Fly by wire CAN send 50 to the back however.

Not sure if it still applies, there were a lot of aftermarket controllers for the haldex system for these cars.
