Anyone done this? Any kind of write up? I am going to install an RNS E and was considering the swap. Also basically need to since I am running a cargo box up top now and the regular antenna would be in the way. Also assuming that not just any sharkfin would work...hoping one of you knows what specific one i would need to work without real modding to work with an RNS E.

You can just use the gps antenna it came with.

I usually install gps antennas under the a-pillar in cars. Works just fine.

You can swap the Shark fin on, as long as it's from a C5 Avant it'll fit perfect. A B6/B7 one will be close, but you'd want a tiny tiny bit of sealer under it when you install it. As for the wire, I don't think non-Nav equipped cars came with the NaV coax/ antenna wire installed, so how you run that from the front to the back...well, that's a weekend project in itself almost.
I swapped a sharky fin onto my old S6, and it DID have OEM stupid-NAV whatever it's called and the connection was not the same on the wire. I thought that was weird, but I had a roof box so I hid the little disc NAV antenna receiver thing up out of the way.. I think I eventually swapped it back and just slid the roof box forward 4" .

This is the easiest solution. No gps, but low profile.
