i need some help here. car is a 2005 1.8t 6spd. i fried the ecu and got a replacement. had the immobilizer defeated and flashed it with my big turbo file. turns out this ECU was from an automatic. i need some help on coding it with vcds to manual. the car does not like it. brake light is flashing i got all sort of lights on the dash and codes.

reading threads about it has no info really. just about ABS coding. anyone ?

Ideall, an ECU needs certain conditions to exist, before it can be soft coded. An automatic ECU will most likely have stored faults, as it no longer sees the Tiptronic TCU.

You may face challenges getting this ECU to accept coding, but hopefully someone else with more experience on this will chime in.

I coded a manual ecu to tiptronic with my bench flashing cable on my bench out of the car with all the fault codes because there was nothing plugged into it. I don't think the ecu is as fussy when it comes to that as the damn abs module.

just did what that thread said to do. but noticed its only for 5spd manual. it only lists 5spd manual , auto and DSG, does not have a code for 6spd manual. does this matter? anyone know what number to input for 6spd manual? thanks

PN on your new ECU? worst case is you code it for a 5sp stick and your cruise won't work in sixth,

I just got this ECU and paid to have the immobilizer defeat. It's the same PN as my original so hopefully I can get it coded. If not I'll consider buying yours

When I did my ECU swap I did the immo defeat. I still had to match the SKC to get it to work. Your coding should be: 0016711.

anyone else wanna help out? is there anything else required to make this work properly?
ecu coding is switched to 6spd, is ABS coding necessary? i'm reading something about ABS coding, steering angle position coding and few other things. not sure if required or how all of that takes place. i can pay for your time if thats what it takes. i am all new to this ecu coding stuff.

My abs threw a fit at first, once I drove around the block it was fine.

I put sister ECU in my car that was initially coded as an auto. I matched the ECU and recoded it to manual. Before this, the brake and traction control lights were blinking with an audible beep. Afterwards, I checked the ABS module which had a few codes stored that I just had to clear. No other modules had a fault that I know of.
