Installing akebono pads with Zimmerman rotors rn from the recommendation of fellow members here. Wanted to get some advice on bedding the brakes properly.

There's no one right way to do it, but get the brakes up to temp, then do a series of 60-10MPH stops without coming to a full stop. Then drive around normally for 5-10 minutes to let the rotors cool before coming to a full stop.

I have never bedded new pads on any of my many cars, over the last 35 years, and have never had an issue. I think it is only some high performance pads that need bedding...not normal street pads..I put Akebonos all-around on my S4, and did not bed them. 5000 miles later, all is still fine with my brakes. Street pads are typically pre-baked by the manufacturer, to fully cure and outgas the volatiles in the friction material mixture.

Do 5 or 6 60 or 70 mph to 10 MPH hard stops with minimal cooldown time. Then, drive for 5-10 minutes without coming to a full stop and you're good.

Bedding is only needed if the brake pads require it. Akebono pads do not require bedding.

Rotors don’t need bedding, especially since you should be installing new pads whenever you change rotors.
