    What’s this!?

Okay so I saw this in the tech section, no responses...so, I’m trying now.

As I was driving I had my CEL appear and had a really sloppy idle at every red light. I didn’t really have a loss of power but, there was this massive hissing sound when I popped the hood. The pic below shows what I’m talking about.

Anyways, it looked as if it became unseated so I pulled and it seated itself back into place.

Any help as to what that’s called is helpful

https://youtu.be/yvfVUkuPY0k should point you in the direction you need to go. It's the intake manifold flap.

    Thanks man! That’s it!

As I said, reseated and just now took it for a drive. I accelerated sort of hard and it popped back out right around 3300 rpm...could tell it let go because rpm needle went unsteady.

Looks I’ll be driving like an old guy till I get the time to swap this out.

Drill through the arm and put a cutter pin in it. Seriously.

That would be useless as it would lock the arm into the manifold in a permanent fixed position.

What I’d need is a c-clip or retainer with a nub extending over the actuator. That would a nice temporary solution.

Old Guy, you’re right! I can barely drive this car a few miles before I need to stop and reseat the arm.

You probably need a new intake manifold if it keeps popping out.

On the 3.2 engine the lower intake actuators go bad frequently & that is the fix. I see our manifolds are different, you are right a C clip would do it. Good luck friend!

Are you planning on cleaning the carbon buildup while you're in there?

Hell yea! I was actually thinking about that yesterday. I’ve got just over 30K miles on the engine after Audi replaced my pistons for the consumption issue.

So most definitely looking into it.
