We installed existing fairly (5k miles) new timing equipment. We compressed the tensioner slowly and locked with pin to installed.*
After pulling pin (and helping the tensioner a bit by hand to fully extend), the belt tension is quite low. When rotating the tensioner pulley to tighten belt, it will go back to fairly slack. It seems the tensioner has not enough spring force to keep proper tension.*
Engine runs fine, belt runs smooth.*
But don't feel very good about the low belt tension.*

How tight should the timing belt be?*
