    Easy-entry seat?

    '09 S5, new to me.

So with that giant side bolster on the driver's seat, I have tried to get in the habit of moving my seat way back before I get in, so I'm not destroying the leather on that bolster (which is already pretty bad but I don't need to make it worse). Sometimes I do it before I get out of the car and leave it that way, sometimes I forget or the car automatically moves the seat back to my #1 position when I unlock it, so sometimes I have to do it when I'm getting in.

I have noticed, a few times, that when I open the door the car will automatically move the seat way back without me doing anything. It just did it this morning. I haven't pinned down yet exactly what the circumstances are under which it would do this, and it doesn't do it every time.

Do these cars have some sort of "easy-entry" feature that moves the seat back for entry? If so how do I enable it to happen every time?

I've actually thought about making position #1 the "way-back" position so it goes there when I unlock it with the fob, then just manually adjusting the seat forward when I get in.

    Thanks,
    Darel

On page 77 of my manual there is the following paragraph:

"When the vehicle is LOCKED, the current settings are stored and assigned to the remote control key. But the settings stored on memory buttons 1 and 2 are not deleted. They can be recalled at any time. When the vehicle is UNLOCKED, the settings stored on the remote control key are restored."

So tell me if I read this paragraph correctly. If I were to get in the car, close the door, UNLOCK the door, set the seat to my driving position, and store it on Mem 1, then it will be stored on the button on the door. If I then LOCK the door, move the seat way back, and do something (can't quite figure out what), that way-back position will then be stored on the key fob, and when I approach the car and unlock the doors with the fob, the seat will move way back?

I think using the information in this paragraph I can figure out a workaround but I'm not 100% sure how to go about it.

I suppose I could also store "way-back" as position 2, and somehow figure out how to tie it in to the fob, but then my wife loses her seat settings.

    Thoughts?
