    Dirty/Dusty headlights 4 day old RS3.

Picked up my RS3 a few days ago. Most all is well. However, my headlights have some crazy nasty dust/material inside the lenses, from the outside they look like they are scratched pretty bad when the light shines through.

Anyone experience this? I hear they are vented, maybe blowing some air into them?

Mine look great. Just washed the car two days ago and did not have anything inside the headlights. Can you post a picture?

I'd show the dealer the difference between yours and other Audis on their lot, and demand replacement if difference is obvious. I've had mine for 9 months with about 9000 miles on it and my headlights look clear.

Are you sure it's on the inside?

Looks like something rubbed up against it or someone sat on it with jeans or something, personally I would try lightly polishing it.

I can fix these with my polisher if they are on the outside, and I think they are. However, dealer might just want to replace them. Well see.

For what they cost the dealer will try to fix them... they are pricey buggers

i took a really close look at mine in the sunlight today, and there are definitely imperfections in the plastic. It's not on the outside or the inside from what I could tell. They were so small that my camera couldn't see it, but my eyes could. Looked slightly different than yours but some of it looked the same.

    THANKS!

Leave it to me to find a systemic issue that everyone has but no one knows it. If you do NOT think you have this, turn on your headlights and look into them, that is the only way you can see what we are talking about.

My dealer was able to find many many vehicles with this issue. Including a new S3 that just came off the truck.

    1) look at night with the headlights turned ON.
    2) check at angles
    3) My lenses look clear until I turn my headlights on. I encourage anyone reading this to check their headlights.

Next question is, is it on outside or inside? They are vented headlights, NOT sealed. And we could probably blow air into them, if it is proven its on the inside.

IMO stuff on the outside is what it is. If it's on the inside though, that's kind of unacceptable.. But what do I know. I have owned a lot of cars over the last few years, and my new RS3 is the only one with an issue this quick out of the gate. Not sure it can even be fixed if its on the inside, and if new ones wouldn't just come with the same issue. But, apparently some cars at the dealer might be clear. Not sure yet.

I remember my B8.5 S4 brand new ecodes had something similar (maybe not as bad as that last picture) and I doubt it is uncommon - anyone checking, look at the lenses with only the headlight ON and in the dark, and you see even the slightest imperfections (which may even be part of the manufacturing process) lit up like a christmas tree.
