    My car shakes on acceleration and im pretty damn sure its my mounts. Does any one have any detailed walkthroughs on how to replace the mounts? How many mounts are there? Should I go with after market mounts or OE?

    Thanks in advance guys!

    There should be 2 transmission mounts. Looks really straightforward, I'll attach the page from the service manual below.

    As far as what mounts to use, I hear really good things about the 034 Motorsport Density Line, and they're probably way cheaper than the Audi OEM to boot.Screenshot (2).png

    Do the 034 density mounts fit the 4.2L? i see that it says it fits the A6/S6/ALLROAD but it says it doesnt fit the 4.2L...

    There's a lot of conflicting information regarding the 034 mounts... some say yes, others say no. I guess the only way one could really find out is to buy a set and try them.

    However, ECS Tuning has Rein mounts for the 4.2 at a really good price: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-rein-par...b0399151m~ren/

    I've been driving C5 Audi cars for a long time, and pretty sure it's not going to be the trans mounts ...

    Check the CV joint boots for tears and the shafts for play at both inner and outer joints ;
    Check all 8 control arm inner rubber bushings for cracks and/or tears in the rubber ... if they're dry and brittle they need to be replaced;
    Check the inner and outer tie rod ends for play;

    Go forward from there ...

    I recently replaced the cv axles so they shouldn’t be torn or anything I also have after market upper control arms. I’ll check all of it but I feel like I should still replace the mounts since the car is 18 years old and I’m sure they have never been replaced. I appreciate your advice man!

    Transmission mounts were one of the easiest things I did on mine, shouldn't take you hardly any time at all.

    They're super easy, but specific to the 4.2 only. I'm not sure who makes the OEM mounts, but avoid the cheap brands to play it safe.
