Thinking about putting magnaflow's on my 2011 a6 3.0t. For those that have replaced the stock mufflers please give me your thought. Which muffler sounds best with minimal to no drone. I will possibly be doing the resonator too but will start with mufflers first. Thanks in advance.

I heard that changing the center to an x-pipe makes a good difference. There are a few threads on here already. Search them out

I'm sure @sincitya6 will chime in here, but pulled a post of his to highlight his experience with his setup.

Kneel, I am running a Magnafow resonated X-pipe (where the small resonators were), then straight pipe back to Magnaflow mufflers and 4” tips. I kept the stock 2.25 inch tubing.
Drone is evident at 2k rpm while under load and goes away at around 2500. My wife complains about it when on the freeway doing 75 (6th gear @ 2000rpm) so I just kick it into sport mode and drop to 5th) engine revs at about 2500 rpm and drone goes away. I thought I would see a significant decrease in MPG but it’s less than 1mpg.
The one unknown is that you have an Avant and mine is a sedan. I don’t know if the extra volume in the passenger cabin will have an impact.

As for price, my setup was $650 installed having sourced the items off Amazon.
I'm planning to go a similar route, so just trying to decide if I want to deal with the drone, or change it up a bit to try to eliminate it.

As stated above, there are several threads that discuss this.
The OEM system has 2 sets of resonators; small in front (2) and larger “triangular” shaped ones (2) about mid cabin (they sit on either side of the driveshaft). I removed everything from the small resonators back.
From my research, removing the resonators, not mufflers, increases drone. However, swapping mufflers only doesn’t really give you much change in sound. I don’t really think the drone I have is bad, plus it is only in one area of the rev range when under load; 2000 rpm.

Here is a video I did for @kneel about drone:

Here is a cold start video:

Here is a clip of driving (don’t mind the video quality):

I could attest to your research sin, once you remove resonators drone will be evident. The last video will have interior sounds of my current setup where you can hear the drone at around 2k rpms. Also if you need some sound clips I have them with Magnaflow mufflers:

I'm planning to remove both sets of resonators and have the Magnaflow x-pipe and some new oval slant cut resonated tips to squeeze in. Thinking of doing some Helmholtz resonators for the drone. I'll try to post pictures and video when it's done.

Yes, it's resonated and I haven't noticed any drone yet, quieter than my previous TT and A3 which both droned.
