    DIY Brushed Aluminum Mirror Caps

So I have been deciding to go with either the carbon fiber mirror caps or the brushed aluminum (S3 style) ones for my A3. Being that my car is Mythos Black, I felt that there was not enough contrast between the carbon fiber and the black paint. On the other hand the S3 style mirrors were pretty pricey from the Audi site.

I decided to pick up a set of used mirror caps off a forum member on AudiWorld for $40 and got to work for some DIY brushed aluminum mirrors. The mirrors started in Lotus Gray, so there wasn't any obnoxious color to cover up. Grabbed 220 grit sand paper and got to work. I put 3 coats of the matte mettalic paint, followed by 2 coats of matte clear coat. I think for $50 they turned out awesome. I still have my stock mirror caps, if I get over the contrasted color. #BudgetMods

Love the way this looks. I have a Mythos Black A3 as well and think there is too much black and have been trying to figure out a way to add some color to it. This would be perfect. BTW is your car lowered, if so what springs?

Thank you! Yes, the car is lowered. I decided on H&R Sport Springs, I am very pleased with them so far!

If the price is right, someone hit him up! The contrast is great against the black paint.
