Could it have been the immobilizer? Happened to my s6 Avant last week at the gas station. I pumped my gas, got back in and started it up. I put the car in gear and pressed the gas and nothing happened lol. I restart the motor, it dies after a few seconds, then again, and again. Then I noticed the little yellow car and key symbol flashing while it occurs. I opened my drivers door, shut it - locked the car with the key fob, unlocked and since then it's been ok.. But damn these cars have so many frigging electrical gremlins :(

I've also been in the process of changing faulty door lock modules to keep the alarm from going off every 20 seconds.

anti theft system, shuts engine down after 3-4 seconds unless transponder in key fob matches code in cluster. All C5 starting 01 have it.

I believe that the CR2032 battery inside the key fob and the RFID capsule inside the fob have no interaction. Try using other keys to start the motor as the signal from one RFID capsule may be better then the other.

Also I've read on this and other boards that after changing the car's battery - weird things begin to happen.

fob batteries will not cause immo issues. one of your keys may have a bad rfid chip however that is unlikely

correct, they are in different parts of the fob, and have no connection whatsoever. If one of the keys work, while not a likely thing to happen, I cannot think of anything else, but a RFID chip going bad.

I see, so is this like a chip I can buy or let dealer handle everything type of fix.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Button-Fl...8/131162696928

this supposedly has new chip, T6, MEG/CR ID48 that can be matched to any A6.
