audi won’t sell the old VC gasket (they will happily sell the entire VC) so hoping to find someone else who still stocks / sells the old part.

Anyone here have that part number?

I cut out the couple of spots to modify my valve cover to accept the later revision gasket. Last resort option if you want to also upgrade to the revised gasket.

Wait you modify the cover itself? (Or you mean the gasket?)

If you’ve got pics I’d appreciate seeing

Oh, wow. First I've heard of someone doing that. I recently replaced mine but I modified the gasket. Not the perfect solution but I wasn't about to spend $$$ on a new valve cover.

Pretty sure this is the pre-update gasket:

What tool did you use to cut it?

I ordered the part by Febi I posted above (which says is for “pre-update VCs”) but I see from the pic on the website that the gasket fully encloses the last spark plug hole. Will confirm when I get the actual part.

I reckon I started with a worn down Dremel cutting wheel and moved on to a 1/8” drill bit in the dremel. A small routing bit might be better but I didn’t have one.

Ok- may try this if the gasket doesn’t actually fit
