Planning on buying 2013 S6 tomorrow. Have some questions.

Going to look at one tomorrow. Fully loaded with 64k miles. It still has one year left of CPO warranty.

I just want to know what common problems the S6 faces from this model year.

How is the long term reliability of it?

What should I expect from my yearly maintenance cost?

Is there any maintenance I can do myself? Or is everything basically hidden and left to the mechanics?

This will be my daily driver. My commute to work is about 20 miles each way. And I have to drive through Michigan winters as well. How often would I need to repair wear parts (brakes, tires, etc)? I am a newly grad that just started my full time position recently. How much of a financial burden would just keeping the car working optimally be?

Only issue I have had with my car was a turbo pressure loss which they fixed under warranty. It was a hose that was leaking.

Plug in with vag com and read the total misfire counts for each cylinder. Make sure they are all close and there are no giant differences. For example I have 3,000 recorded on cyl 3 and the others are all in the high hundreds

If it has one year of CPO I'd try to get it in ASAP for turbo replacement otherwise just save up and buy a 2014 or even better 2016.

Yes what’s up with the fuel filler cap door? I can’t get mine flush and records show it has been adjusted multiple times. Not a big deal but a pet

The main issue relates to the locking mechanism failing.

Check with Audi dealer on CPO expiration dates, just because the seller says 1 year left doesn’t mean it’s actually one year.
Also, for most new grad, even a used S6 might be too much financial burden down the road, but if you are making good money and are ok with spending couple thousand after warranty expires, then by all means.

Many of us ‘13 owners are experiencing blown turbos. My dealership mentioned it’s an issue with the parts.

The cost of repair is $10k and AofA is helping some people out.

    Something to certainly consider.

One would need the extra financial resources to be able to fund all the possible issues one might expect. Personally, I prefer a newer year for less hassles.

The benefit of the 2013 year choice is lower entry cost, but what about the possible additional investment costs for this depreciating asset?

OP save your money and buy a 2015 if the 2016 facelift is out of your budget.

    2013s are having turbo failures.

Stay under warranty or get CPO. Otherwise, caveat emptor
