Is there a simple to follow maintenance schedule for our cars?

The Audi published schedule is just a disaster of confusing and conflicting service intervals. Has anyone seen a nice and straightforward schedule for our cars?

It makes my brain hurt to see this mess of a document:

At first glance it's a little confusing, but once you go throught it a couple of times it's cake. Print it out and use a hightlighter.

I read this thing all the time when I am bored at work. To sum it up...you change your oil every 10K miles and your spark plugs every 40K. The 55K is a major service and it will likely be the most expensive one. I believe you need to change the Ribbed V-belt. I've always wonder if this is another name for the timing belt because that diagram does not say "timing belt" anywhere. If you drive your car hard then I suggest an oil change every 5K miles. Always check engine oil level since it tends to burn oil. I always top off around 1-2K miles. Other than that, check and replace transmission oil every so often like you would normally do. The thermostat on these cars tend to go bad so I would watch out for symptoms. My car overheated due to thermostat failure. It happened literally 5 days after getting back my car from its 55K service and I did not experience any symptoms prior to the incident. I was lucky that I was on local streets so when the car displayed the message about "temperature" I was able to pull over right away and wait for a tow. The fans were going crazy.

There is a very good thread on AZ about carbon build up for these cars as well. But the sticky is for FSI engines. I would assume it applies to TFSI as well. So maybe do a carbon cleaning at least once every 40K or so. That service will cost at least $700-$1K. I've own my 2013 S5 since July 2017 and have put around 9K miles on her and these are things I've learned so far. Great car and I love her.

I believe carbon buildup is just a side effect of pretty much any car using direct injection. I get the impression that the buildup occurs at a slower rate on TFSI cars compared to FSI though.
