Just curious if this part usually breaks down because I rarely see ppl on this forum talking about it. I believe my tensionner is making noise.

Don't know how often they fail, but all belt tensioners are wear items. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. If you are sure the noise is coming from the s/c tensioner, you can replace it from below very easily. Only one bolt holds it in place.

When I upgraded to Stage 2 tune and installed the overdrive crank pulley, I found it easier to simply back out the big bolt that holds it in place so that the locator pin could move. That lets it swing out of the way, making replacing or swapping the belt very easy.

By doing this I also learned how easy it will be to replace this tensioner when the time comes. A new one should come with the spring already compressed and held in place by a pin you remove after installing and routing the belt.

    Does it sound like this?

If so, it's not your tensioner, it's the damn Fluidampr, and now you know why I got rid of mine.

its similar but i wouldn't be willing to say the same. yours sound a bit more 'Metallic- bearing type of sound'' than mine. Mine feels more like a '' hmmm'' basssy type of sound. The reason why I think its the tensionner is because 1) its a wear item 2) for the first 9 month, it didnt not make that sound. Winter have been really harsh , minus 30 celicus etc. so i could assume some belt didnt like that variation of temps.

I also have the heat shield ratle under mid acceleration to fix.

Mine failed completely and took out my front main seal in the process of shredding the belt.

Can you share a video clip of the noise? During my investigation I also swapped my idler pulley and it made zero difference.
