A Little Electrical Advice - sourcing Steady and Switched 12V at Headliner

I got a great deal on homelink enabled, auto dimming, compass enabled rear view mirror to replace the stock mirror (zero electronics - the most high tech part is the little flippy paddle to dim the mirror).

I have instructions for sourcing power at the fuse panel, but suspect I can get all I need from the overhead console.

Am I right in thinking I can get switched 12V at the sunroof control and constant 12V from the interior lights? I'm trying to avoid pulling pulling wires across the liner and down the A pillar. Not a big deal if I need to do that ... but I'd prefer to avoid if I can.

there are a few DIYs out there on hardwiring radar detectors, probably your best bet. most use home link though but im sure there are more options to get a 12v with turn key. I just ran wires down the a pillar and used a fuse tap. I thought it was easier than splicing wires in the dome light area.

Lol. Yeah - the DIYs I'm seeing tap into the homelink power - and that its the reason I'm adding this mirror - because I don't have homelink :)

Running wires down the A pillar not a big deal. Was planning on going the fuse tap route if I cant find a ready place to get the power in the dome light area.

See if the wires are in place above the drivers' sun visor, you will have to remove the sun visor to see but the plug is tucked up in the headliner there where the visor screws in. Might be an easy way to grab the power.

Decided just to go with a pair of fuse taps.
    Will do the install tomorrow.
    Looking forward to it.
It's a nice, modern frameless mirror.

I've started to refer to my car as the carborg. It is slowly getting updated and modernised.
