SRM 2.7T Brushless Fuel System install questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I'm on the last nuts & bolts on a TTE780+ upgrade...

I'm about to mount the fuel system, and I have no clue lol
Do I connect the return hose #1 and leave the return hose #2 hanging?

Sean at SRM told me because I'm using a standalone, install will be easier... But how do I control the 3 speeds of this fuel pump? I'm using a MaxxECU standalone, with GPO (General Purpose Outputs) that could trigger the fuel pump speeds, but how? Should I just ditch the controller and use MaxxECU's GPO's to trigger relays, or would that just damage the pump?

This is the documentation SRM included for the fuel system:

I know there are experienced guys on here - please help ;)

    /g_svan

    Hello g_svan,

Give them 12 weeks, maybe they will respond by then, but they definitely won't tell you they've responded.

    This was helpful guys...

It's going to Dahlbäck Racing later this week for tuning. I was hoping to have the fuel system figured out by then, but hey, I'm sure they can figure it out...

Last time I talked to him about it he said he was ditching it for a dual 450 setup with one pump on a hobbs switch.

you need the controller as it converts it to pwm for the pump (well mine does anyway).

the control box would have a map input signal (0-5v) which correlates to flow (this is how mine is set up).

or you can just set the pump at constant 80% or so, that will be enough for your goals.

other way around. I was ditching with duals and switching to the brushless. I think i said i should have just stayed with the duals.

To answer OPs question. If you are planning on running the pump on its variable setting (which you should) then you connect the shorter return setup with the rubber hose directly to the factory return fitting because at idle that pump does not flow a lot and will not overrun the return system so its okay. If you plan on running pump at a constant high output (dumb) then run the longer one direct into the tank.

As far as making the system work you have it easy. Take one of the PWM signals from that fancy standalone you have and wire it up to pin 2 on the grey connect where it says PWM.

I'm to optimistic apparently. One week = two months or more for some (hint srm, dbr ). Talked with Viktor today, and it looks like we'll see some action tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath... He's got a but load of cars to sort out, and I don't know where I fit in...

I'll let you all know how it goes ;)

Mmm, thats a bad combo for getting things done in time. Sorry.
Why would you retune the car from the beginning? I know it was running too hot pushing 2.2 bar up top.
Is this the reason in first place?
Tip - dyno your car on proper dyno. DBR Dynopack is more bhp when they state whp.

I've switched to the latest Maxxecu, and done some upgrades eg. installed a w/m-kit. Acording to Viktor his Dynapack makes the exact same readings as PPF's... Even so, it's mainly a tool for tuning right ;)

If nothing happens on Monday, I have to start call around ;( (keep the phone close Mocke :D)

It just happens to be so i know that engine and i halped Fredrik alot with it.
Yeah it is a tuning tool. But it sucks when they tell you 680whp and i messure it 580whp
    100-200 best 7.4

After my retune 625hp with some hardware issues 100-200 - 6.1sec.....

Startup with passenger side fuelrail leaking (new o-rings but still leaking..? IE rails..?) ;( Car started, but need to fix the leaks - gono look for bigger o-rings tomorrow...

Some small stuff went wrong (like SRM & Maxxecu didn't ship the right pins for connectors), but all big stuff went well though ;)

Hopefully things will fall in place, and tuning on Friday...

Oem RS4 blue ones are bigger than brown once that usually follows with injectros.

Thanks Mocke, will look in to that...

The injectors have been mounted at an angle, not straight in. You can tell by looking at the o-rings (both top and bottom), witch have a flat side. I'm wondering if these rails are intended for the s4 not rs4..? If the two differ, that would explain things ;) Also the injector holes on the rails are 3mm bigger than rs4 oem rail wich is wierd, right(if I remember correct 13,5 & 13,8mm)?

Well, DBR will customize them, and we'll take it from there ;) == looks like my next shot in the Dynapack is Tuesday

In RS manifold the rail mounting surface is in angle and not in horizontal like in S4 manifold. You need to grind the RS manifold a bit to fit the rails/injectors in correct angle.

    Tack Mocke ;)

Got home a bit late yesterday... Car is tuned, and runs great!!
We where shooting for +720whp, but ended up with [email protected] dropped to ~2.4... Now egt's tops out at 970 degrees Celsius, wich is acceptable... We ended up scrapping the w/m-kit, since it costed to much hp and the egt wasn't that bad after all...
Car sounds like a freaking jet plane, so that has to be addressed - I'm a sleeper kind of guy, and this is at the other end of the spectra -lol-

There's still some tidying up to do, afterwords I'll post a 100-200 run (gopro-video or if I can borrow a timing device from dbr) for ya :D

Not the final run, but close:

Is that 970 deg C in 3rd gear?
How is it possible that meth cost you power? It needs to be tuned in ofc.
100-200 with correct sloop would be nice.
    Enjoy it.

Third gear pulls all day long ;)
We used a 50/50 blend meth/distilled water, at first with two size 10 injectors, but that was to much, so we ended up using only one injector - which we later pluged. Got a hp drop of about 40 and a temp drop of about the same... ;)

It was hot though, at least 30 Celcius in the room, and car was drinking pump e85 (~e75 maybe)...

970C is far for acceptable sorry, and if it is tuned properly WMI will give you more power because first of all
it cools the charge air (needs to be installed in a correct position) and bump ocate rating.

    My thoughts as well, unfortunately.
I dont have 970degC on top of 5th gear and i have tdi gearbox.
    About 750ish top of 3rd.
Also wmi on top E85 i tuned in gave great response specially in higher gears.
I would not recommend doing high gear pulls as is.
Whats you’re opinion on correct position on our cara Robert?

I dont have 970degC on top of 5th gear and i have tdi gearbox.
    About 750ish top of 3rd.
Also wmi on top E85 i tuned in gave great response specially in higher gears.
I would not recommend doing high gear pulls as is.
Whats you’re opinion on correct position on our cara Robert?
I have one jet installed in each of my intercoolers (on top) so that gives enough distance for the air to cool so that the IAT sensor can pick up the cooler charge
air temperature and adjust timing accordingly. I am also around ~800C tops in high gears but I run on petrol + WMI and my turbine housing is not tiny K04.
