Cluster Swap for Aus Spec S4 B5

I need some advice on whether I have all the required wiring to swap the cluster in my Australian S4 B5 (I live in Australia), My old cluster burnt out (the circuit board is toasted and cannot be plugged in at all) and needed replacing so I got a spare one from the US. Problem is i plug it in but can't access the cluster to recode it for my Australian Gauge faces (Km's, Degrees C, etc). The car has an Immo defeated ECU so its not an immobiliser issue as the car runs and it drives fine, the cluster shows revs, temps, speed etc but the scale is wrong for the speedometer as its scaled for the US face that shows Miles on it. I also cannot access the cluster to change the Odometer to match my old kms (183,xxx). I have already run a direct wire from my OBD2 Port (Pin 7) to my ECU (Pin 43) and it works because without it the ECU cannot be accessed at all. Are there any other wires I need to run to make it possible for me to access the cluster with VCDS or anything that I am missing or is it possible I just got unlucky and have a dud new cluster?

I believe you have to have your cluster reflashed. Not just coded. Look on nefmoto for a b5 cluster dump for a KM cluster.

Bump but with some questions, hopefully someone knows how to answer these. So a bit of background, as above my original Australian spec cluster got completed fried and is unable to be plugged in. I have finally managed to source another working Australian S4 Cluster but the problem I am having now is that I have an immobiliser warning light that is flashing on my dash constantly whenever the car is on or running. the car drives fine and can even start without the cluster plugged in due to the ECU being immo defeated, however I am wondering:

    1) is it possible to code my keys, cluster and ecu to work together so that it is as if the car was original and so that there is no longer an immobilizer warning light on my dash.
    2) is it possible to do step 1 without running a direct k-line from ECU (pin 43) to the obd2 plug (pin 7) so the car is essentially back to stock wiring (wire from ecu through cluster to obd2 as all aus spec S4s are wired).
    3) I still want to have the ability to log (for future tuning revisions) using ME7 Logger, with steps 1 and 2 completed.

Further information that may be of use:

Ecu was originally an "N-Box" and has since been re-flashed to an "M-box" with multiple flash tune files (in the form of tune revisions) loaded on since being loaded with an M-box file.

    Faults found in VCDS:
in the ECU (1) there is 18058: Power train Data Bus: Missing Message From Instrument Cluster P1650 - 35-00 - -

in the instrument (17) there is:
    01176 - Key 65-10 - Unauthorized - Intermittent
    01177 - Engine Control Unit 49-00 - No Communications
    01300 - Control Module for Navigation with CD-Rom (J401) 49-10 - No Communication - Intermittent

You shouldn’t have to mess with wiring. I paired an ECU with an rs4 cluster and keys by only running 2 wires to the RFID receiver around the lock cylinder (since us cars don’t have imo). You will however need to buy new key half’s with new transponder chips, as once the keys are coded to a gauge cluster, you cannot code them to another. You’ll also need to reactivate the immobilizer on the ECU as well, since the cluster won’t accept pairing for keys without first knowing that it’s paired to the right ECU.

Swap in a canadian cluster, its in KM and no immobizer, theres a couple being parted out locally i can get you a number or e mail.

So I have managed to figure out the logging problem with the help of a friend whilst maintaining the stock wiring, I was told to first connect to the cluster using vagcommander V2.5 and the k-line option (only this version works for me), then once it connects read the cluster so that I can see the hexadecimal code from the cluster then close the program and just open me7 logger and start logging and it works just like normal.. very strange that this works but I won't question it. Using this same version of Vagcommander I was also able to change my odometer to match my old cluster.

Now i just need to figure out how to change the SKC of my new cluster to that of my old cluster and I am under the impression this should fix my VCDS error key issue? or will I still be required to get new key halves, re-enable the immobiliser and match them to the new cluster?

I had someone desolder my old EEPROM chip from my fried cluster and do a read on it but I am unsure if it contains the SKC, anyone have the know-how on it if I send the cluster dump file?

MacDaddy, I would have done this if i thought of it before buying a like new condition Australian cluster that cost me a bit too much, However if i change my mind down the track I will let you know! thanks for the offer.
