    2009 Audi A6 3.0t Tune

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

What is the most powerful and reliable tune to go with?

I think I have pretty much every tuner, APR and GIAC in my local area.

    I have the 2009 A6 3.0T if that makes a difference.

Also are there any transmission tunes that make the transmission more reliable?

    Thanks

Hi Nick. APR vs. GIAC is like Ford vs. Chevy. You will have fans on both sides that think their favorite is better.
You can’t go wrong with either one to be honest. It boils down to what you want.
As for power, both are pretty on par with each other for a box tune. In the past, they would leap frog each other as they continued to develop their tunes but they have done pretty much all the tweaking they are going to do for our platform.
For me, the advantage is GIAC because they offer a switchable tune package; stock, pump and race. Whereas APR does not offer switching on the C6A6 tune.

Sin pretty much covered the differences. Also to note, there is no tranny tune for our platform unfortunately. With that said, the tranny in this car is a solid tranny, and not sure I have heard of anyone having an issue with the tranny yet.

Do either of those tunes delete the EVAP related stuff in the car?

I have that clunk too but it's very subtle and got much better after replacing the trans filter and fluid, and this car has been stock its whole life. So likely not just a transmission longevity issue based on the car being tuned or not.

Does anyone know how the 2009 audi a6 3.0t engine compares with the new 3.0t engines?

Will power results be the same with a tune across all of the 3.0t?

Are there any differences between the 3.0t engines?

I have nearly 170 thousand on my car, and 60 thousand of that tuned. Don't baby the thing at all, and tranny is still running strong.

Makes me feel better about the transmission... That was my primary concern regarding the tune upgrade.

I do notice some jerkiness from stand still for slow acceleration unless I go really slow.

I just thought that it was normal with this car, I don't mind it.

As long as something doesn't actually break..

Does any one know if there is any horsepower difference between the 2009 3.0t and the new 3.0ts?

A quick look at the factory hp ratings from audi tells me there are likely differences, you'd have to do your own research to figure out what they are. I'm sure there's an article somewhere. The C6 tune #s are not what the B8 or newer tunes show, that's for sure.

I am not overly worried about exact HP levels - these fall into the 'fast couch' category. Not race cars, but fun dailys. Tune it, enjoy it, don't think about it too much.

Also....'solid tranny' sounds like a good band name.
