    500 miles in, what I've noticed

    There are a lot of threads on issues and opinions and I thought I would share mine.

    500 miles (still breaking it in)
    • I have programmed the * button to switch between modes, like others sometimes it doesn't work on the first press. But what I did find is if i double tap it will begin to cycle through
    • I am driving it to "break in" mainly in Dynamic mode. Because the car will hold gears longer i find this to be helpful
    • In dynamic mode I have noticed my temp gauge reading as high as 226* in regular stop and go traffic (not rush hour) If i get an open stretch of road it will drop down to 208*
    • In comfort mode the temp gauge will remain around 202* - 206* in stop and go traffic
    • I have experimented with Dynamic mode on 1/2 my commute both surface roads and highway then comfort mode on the 3rd leg of my trip home. Comfort will keep the temp around 204* even if I was running dynamic previously and on the highway.
    • I have recently started taking a whiff inside my oil cap after some mixed driving for about 30mins and it still smells like fresh (hot) oil
    • I am getting about 220 miles to a tank and filling up with 12 gallons
    • Rear brake discs look a bit worn especially compared to the front discs
    • Due to comments in this forum i made sure to bed my brakes and I have no issues slowing down from 90mph+ with no shaking or squealing

    I would say I am a bit disappointed in the handling, again that's not really the fault of the car as I have a modded car that has a good bit of suspension work done. I want to get this car up on a rack ASAP and get to work on the alignment. It's also not a bad idea for me to play with tire pressure. I can't wait to get my wheels in and put proper tires on the car. These factory tires are like grease balls compared to much better sets of rubber.

    Here's to another happy 500 miles. At that point there's an oil change and LC in my future

    Interesting you have a modded suspension and are disappointed by the handling. What did you do? Stock seems pretty good.

    edit: maybe you are talking about owning another car with a heavily modified suspension, and that the rs3 doesn't compare to that?

    RS3 = Stock suspension

    I think tires will improve it a lot. The stock ones feel like grease balls
