Has anyone installed an S4 rear knuckle/spindle? Is it a direct swap?

Debating swapping out the rear knuckle/spindle. It's such a pain pressing out the rear wheel bearing on the A4's, wondering if the rear knuckle/spindle from an S4 that has the separate bearing assembly could be directly swapped with the A4 spindle? Worth the effort?

It appears based on part #'s that the rear axle, control arms and tie rods are all the same, as well as the ABS sensor so seems that it should be a direct swap?

    Anyone tried this?

You will need b7 rear brakes or s4.

Thanks for the link! The vehicle in question is a B7 so sounds like it’s a direct swap. Will have to give doing this some serious thought. Guessing my bearings don’t have all that much life left in them at over 200k kms.

It's probably a good guess lol. I got some b6 s4 spindles for my a4 with s4 brakes. my a4 ones were leaking grease out of both bearings with 130k miles.
One thing I was looking into was the quality of the replacement bearings. Seams skf is the original bearing supplier, so I made sure I got them over the others (there's lots of cheeper options or good ones I've heard like Timkin) was kind of my reassurance that they will last long.

note: I don't know at the time don't know if you know or not but, when I did my front wheel bearings I set my car down without tightening the axles and that's a big no no. (Can mess up the bearing) So make sure you tighten the wheel hub bolt before putting back on the ground.

Yes, I'm told that SKF is the OE supplier for B7 bearings.

And thanks for the tip for the axle bolt!
