    HELP! How the heck do you take off a B8.5 auto shift knob???????

    Guys, trying to swap my console trim. How the hell do you remove a B8.5 auto shift knob???


    I need the thing off to lift the center console off

    Doesn't help.....I am starting with a B8.5 shift knob, there is no clamp underneath

    So it's as simple as cursing at it for several minutes......

    My wife says she always knows when a project is close to completion once the superlatives start flowing!

    All you need to do to release the knob is turn this piece



    Viola! It then can come off

    HELP! How the heck do you take off the shift knob???????

    That clip looks the same as the one on my 6MT knob. I unfortunately couldn’t twist it off and had to cut it off with snips.

    Enjoy the knob!

    Thanks but I already had the knob, I was trying to remove the entire center console, the entire assembly pictured had to come off

    Got it, sorry the BFI video threw me off. I’ve left the knob and boot on the shifter when removing the center console.

    Seeing it out of the car now, leaving the knob on is possible. The boot is clipped in in four places.

    Although turning that piece to release the knob frees up much needed room to access the connectors for the MMI, parking brake, etc.
