Hello!

I have a used set of K04 turbos.

According to the Serial Number and Part Number these turbos are typically found on EBay and Amazon and are Chinese Made.

Model: KW04
Part#: 5304 988 0025
Serial: 6021646

They need new CHRA’s and they are good to go. great for a budget build with knowledge of rebuilding turbos.

Came off my 2000 Audi S4 2.7L, these turbos saw stage 3 at 24psi for about 4 years and 40,000 miles.

China turbos are a great deal because all you need to do is install a set of Borgewarner K04 CHRAs and you have turbos that will be just as good in every way as an OE BW K04, at a fraction of the price.

I was going to do that same until I got the “upgrade it while the motors out bug”. Hahaha

Think I’d rather keep them and learn how to rebuild a set myself if I’m going to just let them go.

I’ll leave the ad up for an other week and if there are no takers I’ll wrench them myself.

Ill take them off your hands. I'm looking to do a 2.7tt swap for my B6. Im looking at purchasing the motor from AudiS4Parts. It comes with K03s and id rather have K04s. From what I have reading the k04s will be much more fun.

Saying they'll be just as good in every way is perhaps over generous. I'm suspect of the metallurgy of the knockoffs turbine housings after pulling a set of generic K04's and the divider between wg port and turbine exit was beginning to disintegrate. Indications seem that the turbine housings are good enough to work, but I don't believe the quality is the same as what BW produces.

And if the turbine castings don't get you, the wastegates will. Think about how much moolah and work you'll expend rebuilding these with BW centers, at least 700 bones, installing them and then doing a motor pull and replacing them if they eff up. Not a smart place to try to save money on a build, IMHO...

nothing from china is a smart idea. The auto parts industry is a 40 to 50 billion dollar industry and china is responsible for like 98% of fraudulent failure prone knockoffs. Get urself some "moog" ball joints and replace them every 5000 miles cause your trying to save some money. Just turns into a vicious cycle where in the end you sell your b5 thinking its a bad car but really its the mechanic/owner

I am surprised these aren't worth a Benjamin to someone.
