Kind of a poll for S6 owners: Are you using 5/30, 5/40 or 0/40 oil? And what brand?

Just like the title says. Couldn't find how to make it a true poll, so just post your brand and viscosity of oil. I'm about to make the first oil change at 4,400 miles. Was going to wait for 5K, like the master tech suggested due to break-in additives added, but need to do it now due to a long trip in a week. Anyway, my car didn't even come with an oil label, but the label only lists specs, which cover the 3 viscosities above. Just curious what the majority of owners are using. I was planning on keep using M1 0/40, like on my ex-Porsche, but I want to use what the majority use. By the way, will be changing oil every 5K miles, if that helps. Thanks in advance for your help.

They put 5/40 in for my first oil change. 9.2 quarts. Here’s a picture of the part number used in my oil change.

Also, I went back to a different dealer to buy a quart and they gave me different part number but it was 5/40. However, I think both were that Castrol edge professional, but the one I bought individually was for public sale while the other wasn’t. Both were essentially the same I think.

I’m not sure if the weight is geography/climate related or what, but you can always visit your local Audi dealer and ask for the oil and see what weight they give you, assuming they put in different weights for different regions.

I use M1 0W40 European formula. Wally World has them for 22.88$ For 5 quarts. Can't beat it.

I guess will continue using M1 0/40 'European' formula too, although the formulation was changed for the worse, now that is has an 'FS' added (hence putting 'European' in quotes). So it's just a regular group III 0/40 oil. apparently (used to be group IV, reportedly). But should be perfectly fine with an OCI of 5K miles, which I plan to follow. Anyway, got my hands on an engine label, and it lists both 502 00 and 504 00 specs, which based on Frenetic's link to the Audi spec (thanks man), basically covers every 0/30, 5/30, 0/40 and 5/40 synthetic oils out there, including diesel ones. And yes, all of the ones mentioned above are included too. Being a turbo and living in an extreme climate, the best choice for me is 0/40, so will stick with M1 0/40 too, which can be bought at Walmart for about $23 per 5-qt jug. And doing 5K-mile OCIs with no tracking, I won't have to worry about oil condition. Thank you all for your help.

I use Liquimoly 5-40. Kind of interesting, Mobil1 0-40 is an approved oil by vw/audi/porsche whereas the Mobil1 5w-30 is not. I used 0-40 a couple of times in my old S4 and it it was the only time I was informed by the MMI that I needed to add oil after driving it for a couple of thousand miles whereas it never happened when I used 5-40.
