Just started dabbling over the last year. Really enjoyed some of the japanese stuff and slowly making my way into the barrel and cask proofed stuff. Ill post a pic of my collection when I get home.

I really only enjoy the Canadian stuff myself. Gibson's Finest is excellent, especially considering the price

    Teeling Single grain is awesome.
My go to cheap bottle is the Glenlivet 12, frequently found at costco for about $26/750mL bottle

really enjoyed suntory's stuff. I wish I could have tried the hibiki 12 before it was discontinued. The resell market is insane. I just picked up a bottle of yamazaki 12 and the hakushu 12.

I do enjoy me a lot of whisky’s. More into bourbon then scotch but slowly getting into scotches and Japanese single malts

For bourbon my go to’s are
    Makers
    Buffalo trace
    Elijah Craig

More specialties bounce all over the place for bourbons. But I tend to really enjoy brands made by the buffalo trace distillery and others. Personally I think pappy is good but not worth the trouble.

Have you tried Willett or 4 roses? If you haven't, they may quickly become your favorites. Willett looks like an I dream of jeannie kinda bottle.

I have a bottle of willett that I have not opened yet. Surprisingly most whiskey forums just hate on it saying its awful.

I do like willet and 4roses but can’t get them regularly in Utah. I like that 4roses allows you to search out the different blends and yeast strains they use in there select bottles.

I’ve been all over Kentucky with bourbons but it helps I grew up in Cincinnati and my dad is also very into bourbons.

I wrote two dissertations on whisky and my browser kept booting me off AZ.

So here's a much more diluted post:

Japanese: I do keep a couple of Suntory whiskies around. Yamazaki and Hibiki 12 years both offer a varied flavor that really covers Japanese whiskies well.

Rye: Rittenhouse 100 is my go to for budget ryes. Great for cocktails and not a bad neat pour either. Bulleit Rye 1.75L format can be found for $40, so I tend to keep that around as well.

Whistle Pig is absolutely my favorite rye at the moment. With few legit 10 year, 100 proof whiskies on the market, for $80, this one takes the medal. Farmstock adds a darker note and if you feel like a baller, BossHog will cure any ailment you may be going through.

I enjoy straight barrel bourbons, like Elijah Craig and Woodford Reserve (especially their double oak) Eagle Ridge and Blaum Brothers have been coming up with new bourbons on the market that don't hur the market and go heavy on the proofing. I'm not a fan of Maker's unless you're getting some quality 110+ proof, barrel strength bourbon. For premiums, I might have Stagg, Booker's or Mitchers.

I don't like Pappy. Not because it's not good, because I'd rather spend that money on an aged single malt.

Scotch: now this is my jam. I spent a couple weeks touring Islay, Speyside and Highland park. You can't go wrong with a single malt and almost always, you get what you pay for. I prefer peat, so I tend to side with Islay scotches like Talisker, Bowmore and Lagavulin. I am honestly not a fan of Laphroiag until you get >18 year or cask strengths. Almost everything out of Highland is heavenly and you can NEVER go wrong with McCallan. 12 year old is a good start, but honestly, explore into the different casks and seasonal releases. My biggest collection is from McCallan.

Canadian, Rye and blends have some quality gems here and there, but I haven't really bothered with them. Blends are too relaxed and you often get different taste notes. No consistency.

I wish I could find the hibiki 12 at a reasonable price. if you know of a place let me know.

Costco has whistle pig right now at 65 pretty good price i guess i will grab a bottle.

I have the #4 stagg jr barrel proof and boy is that stuff jet fuel.

Currently have a lagavulin 16 and macallan 12 in the arsenal and i am enjoying those.

Yeah I can't get out of costco without spending at least $400. Now I try not to step foot inside until I need to resupply on paper products. lol

Haven't tried everything yet but I'm a huge Jack fan (have to like the flavor).

Single Barrel Jack I like if I want the "Jack bite". Find myself drinking it less and less though
Frank Sinatra Jack - Was like $200 for a 1L, is too overpriced. If you love Jack it's great but I probably won't buy it again lol

These days my 2 fav are:
    Basil Haydens
    Four Roses
    Ignorance is bliss.
