Paul how does the swivel action work on these one, by that i mean has the function of adjusting them been compromised? My last one on a B8.5 A4 the tilt and side to side amount of adjusting was limited.

I haven’t played around with one in an 8V but most other ones I’ve seen lose a little range of motion. It’s sort of a trade off I guess; nothing major in my experience but it’s there.

gotcha yah after looking at it and the design of the rs3 vent function shouldn't be that bad as RS3 vents dont have the left to right pull tag option, but the whole base moves.

ya, i had on in my s4 and now in my rs3

i used the middle vent (on left hand side) everything functions great, i plan to use it as an ethanol display :)

Haha! After you posted I went out to mine and made the same conclusion after playing with it and comparing it to the pics.

LOL..... yup only issue i had on my last P3 guage was the drivers side window would frost up. On the B8.5 had the sideways tab function that reduced the amount of air flow to the window as the range was limited or push more and break tabs which kinda sucks since its winter for half the year up here. Glad to see it wont be an issue on this setup.

That must be a B8.5 thing anyway. Now that you mention it My S5 windows frost and fog up really quick and take forever to clear.

seem to be, im hitting 22-23 psi regularly with the Unitronic 1+ tune

I have it also. No movement at all unfortunately. A little air blows around it. Stock my car reads 16-17 peak boost

I just installed my P3 Gauge and I can see that it's not 100% leveled. The whole thing is mounted with a small angel that my OCD is not happy with.
Anyone else have this "issue"?

Also I see a lot of reflection in the driver side door window that is a bit annoying when it's dark outside.
Pressing the right button for a sec or two will dim it a bit but the reflection is still way to visible for my taste.
Have anyone successfully connected the dim wire for it to auto dim on a RS3?

How does the dim wire work on this device. Will it dim by reading 0-5v (like the analogue 1 and 2) where 5v is 100% light and 0v is zero light (turned off)

I agree, I prefer it straight and centered. But it looks to be not only not adjustable but in there for keeps. I played around at first with sliding the vent back in a bunch of times as it was bugging me but obviously the vent can only go back in one way. I wish they allowed the user to adjust it.

I just leave it dimmed all the time. Gave up on finding an illumination source.

Installed mine today and have the exact issue, tilts down on the left. This is visually very disturbing as you have horizontal lines in the Main Screen UI, which makes this issue even more obvious. The design of these gauges that are round need to have some level of adjustment for the end user, not an issue with the gauges that go into square vents as the eye has numerous edges that it aligns with to make it look straight. Will now try to figure out to make it work so that doesn't become the only thing that I see everyday.

I guess that everyone have the same issue on the RS3 then?
This makes me believe that this product was designed for the A3 / S3 and are not 100% compatible with the RS3. (But then again, why would audi change the RS3 vent mount. hmm)
Anyone know if the A3 / S3 will have a different outcome?
If A3 / S3 also have this issue then the whole thing must be a design flaw.

I actually don’t have this problem. I moved my P3 over from my S when I bought the new car.

I do, however, have an entirely different problem. The red vents are very different from how the other vents were put together. So not only is the display stem too long, the sizing is slightly different, so my display pokes out a little. I’m planning to do a quick fix with some glue on the stem and vent assembly, but it definitely wasn’t as clean as my S install was.

At least the display isn’t crooked. ;)

The are not " crooked" the manufacturer I think on purpose have them canted towards the driver, I understand what they were going for but I would prefer it straight or adjustable. I will look into fixing this at some point if it continues to bother me.

I think these things should be centered. You have the option to install these in center dash vents also. It would be annoying if it was tilted towards the passenger.

Hey guys.

I reached out to P3 for a comment on this. Will report back.

P3 got back to me:


“”We designed this display to be aligned with the vent, not the dash.

When the vent is rotated counter-clockwise to the fully open position you can see that the center rib at the top of our display housing is aligned in the center of the vent ring. (I have attached a picture below) We designed the display this way so that the display is lined up with the vent when the vent is opened so that it does not appear to be misaligned.

So from the beginning, these vents are slightly twisted in the dash a few degrees by Audi whether they have our gauge or not. (picture also attached below) We thought it would look worse if the display did not line up with the vent correctly.

Another option for these customers is to install their gauge in one of the center vents. All 4 vents in the dash are the same part and the center ones are not twisted. (this would also solve the one customer's problem where he does not like seeing the reflection in the window)””
