FS: A6 2.7T chipped ECU, forge DV's, Samco TB hose, plus OEM part-out

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi Everyone, I'm helping a friend part out his 2001 A6 that experienced a timing belt failure at 188k. The car is paint code LZ5L, Ming Blue Pearl. Interior is shot, body/paint are in good shape, and everything besides the valves and timing belt are still good in the engine bay.

Besides the OEM parts, the car also has

    - SOLD:Techtonics tuned ECU, part # 4B0 907 551 T (good for I think 56 additional HP, but TT no longer has this tune on their website so I'm not completely positive)
    - SOLD: Polished Forge DV's with all three springs (six springs total)
    - SOLD: Samco throttle body hose

This is my first post to audizine so if my pictures don't show up please feel free to email me at greg at gdowney. com for additional details. Also, to be comfortable with me as a seller please feel free to look up my username "CrashRat" on vwvortex or tundratalk, or "crashratcorrado" on ebay.

Please let me know what you need from this car!

    Thanks,

    Greg

Sounds good, just let me know. Hoping to get these items sold at prices that make it hard to say no to. Original post updated to reflect DV's are now spoken for.

Sorry, we got the timing belt cover off this afternoon and discovered it's no good. Has a hole cracked in it.

Am I correct in thinking that the ECU will swap directly to the Allroad? My AR is a manual too, not sure if that makes a difference?

Hi there, and thanks for the interest. You'd need to pull your ECU cover and make sure the part number matches mine in the picture, and if it does you're golden. If it does not match, all is not lost yet. I know there are posts out there documenting the different ECU cross references so there's still a chance it would work out. It'll just take some forum searching to confirm.

Getting back to the trans - I believe you can go from AT to MT without coding, it's the other way around that requires a digit to be flipped with VAG-COM (Which I have, and can do if needed). Someone feel free to chime in & correct me if I'm wrong. This ECU swap would really wake your car up btw, a nice tune coupled with the fun of doing all the shifting yourself is exactly what driving is all about.

Let me know what your ECU part # is please if you decide to pull your cover and I'll be happy to do some searching for you.

The part number is really only one of the factors regarding the ECU. If the immobilizer is still there you will need to deal with that as well, otherwise it won’t let the car run. You’ll need to pair keys and the cluster.

I think you might be advising for IMMO4? It was not until IMMO4 where we started needing ECU-specific defeats. I'll admit I'm a VW guy and not specifically an Audi guy but I thought both sides were IMMO3 in this era up until 2004 or 2005. I know for absolute positive fact IMMO3 stores the 7 digit SKC in the cluster, not the ECU. I have personally swapped multiple clusters and ECUs on IMMO3 cars. There is a separate cable and software you need to read and re-write the SKC to the cluster, which I have (this function cannot be accessed with VAG-COM). ECUs can be swapped at will, as long as they are of the same (or compatible) EMS revision which is where the stamped product number and cross referencing comes in. In cases where an ECU is going from MT car to AT car, then some coding is necessary in VAG-COM (which I have also done) to flip the binary digit that specifies trans configuration. If I recall, the only consequence of not doing this coding step is your AT dash display will not show the gear number in tiptronic mode if you have a MT ECU in your AT car. The car will still run just fine.

Again, I'll admit I'm not an Audi-specific tech but I'm pretty confident I know what I'm talking about with this because I'm probably one of the few people on this forum who have legitimately replaced clusters and recoded them to different keys. Someone else with experience feel free to confirm or deny.

miggity02, feel free to PM me your ECU part # and I'll gladly do the legwork of cross referencing for you. Worst case, let's pretend I'm completely off base with everything I've said. I'm willing to arrange a private auction on eBay so you have a guaranteed 30 day money back return policy.

just ecu to cluster nothing needs to be done with the keys.

Immo 3 so you can just copy your immo info off the stock ecu and program that to the new ecu using a few different tools. Or get the SKC and just go through the normal ecu to cluster alignment procedure. I don't believe TT does anything special and 99% sure this will be a physical chip anyway not a flash, but some tuners when flashing tie the "license" to the vin/immo so changing it can lock the software into a stock mode..again should not be the case here.

This is an APB ecu though won't work on a BEL without other stuff. Anyone looking at the ecu and not sure of their ECU ID (I'd scan with VCDS not look at the sticker) can just verify they have an APB to start to see if it is going to be compatible.

As for Auto vs manual, you can in some cases program the same ECU ID from an auto to manual or manual to auto, in others depending on the ecu IDs the coding is specific to that ID as in an auto ID can't be programed as a manual and vice versa. Forget if that is the case here.

    hopefully that helps anyone shopping.

Good point chris86vw, thanks for the reply. This ECU is out of an APB engine code.

Yeah I missed the fact that it came out of an ABP motor. Those ECU’s run ME 7.1

BEL run 7.1.1. As far as I know they aren’t interchangeable.

No problem. Good luck with your search.

Prices just reduced for the ECU and Samco hose for anyone else who stumbles across this thread. ECU now $200, TB hose now $35. Just looking to get these things moved on to a good home. Not looking to attract lowballers though. Prices are firm.

    Thanks for the inquiry.

I need to be able to pull the car back onto a trailer when we're done parting it out so I can't sell anything that will make it not roll anymore. Sorry.

Sorry, I just hauled the shell off this week. All that's left now are the parts I've listed on eBay, and the nose (fenders/bumper/hood/core support) for pickup only. Please search ebay under my username crashratcorrado for the shippable items. Thanks, everyone.
