For those with the JHM short shifter

I'm having some difficulties after installing it a few months ago. I followed their DIY taking angle measurements and it just feels off. 1st gear is occasionally hard to find and it'll go into reverse at times without applying the required down and left application. Last time i had the car at a local shop for an APR flash they tinkered with it a bit but still it's not quite right. I'll probably take it in somewhere again but I'm tempted to just throw the stock one back in. Any suggestions?

Is there the same amount of play wiggling the shifter side to side in First as their is in Fifth?

Installed mine last week. took about 2 days to break in, but drops in smoothly 1st, reverse and second. You may have to readjust the shifter slightly. Overall, I would drive it before complete reassembly but make sure you have something to clear the codes as it will throw a bunch of codes especially with the climatronic removed.

@Jake, Loving the shifter so far. As it is, its a major improvement over stock but regarding the shift linkage, can you provide a personal experience as to how it feels compared to stock.

Off the top of my head I recall 1st has less play than in 5th. At times it almost needs to be put into first with some force. I haven’t driven the car in a day or two, but I’ll be back from a trip tonight to check it out.

    Right on!

The linkage is a pretty significant upgrade as it also includes an upgraded cross rod (usually available separately for other platforms). It brings a whole new precise mechanical feel to your shifter setup. Back when I had a 6MT car I had all of the upgraded components and loved it. I recently drove a stock car and I felt like I was rowing a boat with a wet noodle

Make very small adjustments until the wiggle is the same between 1st and 5th and let me know

I havn't had much time at home to look into this after a promotion at work, but now I got a chance to take a video. Initially it seems first has less play than 5th, but by the time I get back to first the play seems about even. It's odd, at times first gear is a pain to find and other times its not. ugh. I'll have to bring it somewhere with more finesse than me to align it i guess.
