    Hey Everyone,

Happy to join the club I bought a 15 S4 30k miles CPO Sepang Blue/Black Interior, DSG, Carbon Inlays, Sports Diff, B&O, and Black Optics. I had been looking for this car for some time and finally found it. After having he dealer touch up a couple rock chips and replace the rear diffuser(dented) I was all ready to get my car delivered from Mass to NJ(About 4 hours). They brought it in on a car trailer and I made sure to inspect every inch of the car before it came off that truck. Unfortunately for me the rear bumper was damaged (many deep scratches) pretty badly and the underside of the bumper/chin spoiler was hacked up. None of this was there when I bought the car 2 weeks ago at Audi Natick in MA. Audi claims it is the transport companies fault, and it seems they are taking the blame as of now. I have driven the car 0.1 miles right into my garage and it hasn't moved in 36 hours until I get this settled. Bumper probably needs to be re-painted and maybe even replaced. Front chin spoiler I'm guessing needs to be painted also . The towing company said they will just cut me a check after I get 2 estimates and send them over. The big question is will this end up going on the Carfax? I am a little nervous about devaluing my car before I even drove it on the road yet. What would you guys do in this situation?

That sucks.. I think it only hits carfax if you bring it in to a shop.. Maybe buy new rear bumper and lip and do the install yourself?

First of all, congrats on the new car.

Secondly, while I know this is very annoying, once all the damage is repaired (at what seems to be no cost to you) you'll be happy about it and in time you'll forget it ever happened.

My first priority would be to research solid body shops around you and choose two to get estimates from. Then, collect your check and go get it fixed. In the grand scheme of things this is a minor roadblock, IMO.

Also, I've had plenty of minor body work/repairs done on my cars over the years. Most of which involved my insurance after paying my deductible. However, I haven't had any of these small repairs show up on any carfax reports. In fact, from my experience it's rare that minor repairs like this ever make their way to a carfax report.

Good luck and enjoy the car!

    Hold my beer....

In the name of 1up'ing stories :)

I flew to texas in march to pick up my s4, like you, I was looking for this car for quite some time, literally 2 hours before bed every night going through cargurus, trucar, carmax, carfax.. for about the past two years. ANYWAY, I got into texas with my brother in law to go check out the car, Get there, test the car, all good. Clean Carfax, One Owner, 43k miles, White 2014 prestige, carbon inlays, black alcantara, black optics, B&O, DSG.. Unfortunately no sport diff, but being from florida, we don't really have the winding roads so, it didn't affect my purchase. Paid 30k. Anyway, did the paperwork, and we got the car and started our drive back to Miami.... About an hour into our drive, in lousiana, in 5 mph stop and go traffic, a lifted chevy HD2500 rolls into my rear end, fucks my trunk and bumper. SOO, I had to drive the next 20 hours in my dream car, that was already crashed to have to leave it in my garage for the next week, as I had to fly out the the next day on business to Jersey for a week. So come back from Jersey and the claims process is started (btw, statefarm is pretty good, granted I wasnt their client, I was just the claimant), I then drove the car for a day, and on the following monday, it was off to get repaired. Fast forward two weeks later, I got my car back. So... I think im on my 2nd week maybe of driving the car? Nevertheless... I love this car. That being said, since mine was a collision, I'm going to submit for "diminished value", and hopefully I get something, if not, no one died, shit happen, it is what it is. I don't plan on selling this car ever so its alright, but that's my take on it. In hindsight though, If i wanted an s4 with an accident on it, I would of paid less and wouldn't have had to travel as far ;) /endstorytime

Even new cars have bumpers touched up and completely replaced before ever hitting the showroom floor. In the years of selling BMW's, Porsche's & Mercedes' I've seen bumper covers replaced withing hours of the customer coming to get the car and they knew nothing of the issue. Now we did have a customers Ferrari 599 get damaged in transit and b/c of where the damage was on the roof and the materials that go into that car, it had to be sent to a specialty shop that is licensed by Ferrari. Was supposedly a job that cost over 50k and the guy got his car back in 2 months.

    Hey Guys,
Little update the transport company had me send a million pictures and they are going to make a determination. The transport company rep was a weasel and was talking in uncertainties. I was like listen man Audi said they didn't do it and there are 24 hours where you had the car before delivering it to me. Do what you gotta do but it needs to be remedied. Got an estimate today and it looks to be about 1400 dollars in damage and 3-4 days to fix it. As far as what I paid I don't mind sharing it was 15' with the options I listed before and CPO. Paid about 38k with all the dealer BS fees and trucking from MA to NJ. Car is CPO for about another 3 3/4 years.

Regizzle keep us posted for sure about the devalue claim. I always think about that when driving if some jerk rear ends us and knocks a few grand off the value of our cars and makes it a lot harder to sell.

I was rear ended in my 7 day old Porsche Boxster in 2003. Had less than 500 miles on it.

Thanks for sharing...good to know. You have same year, options, color and mileage as mine. I'm planning a few more track days this summer and may look into getting rid of it end of year. My commute now is all city driving, so not so fun in it anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still love it...when I can open it up! May go electric/hybrid, hoping for something from Audi/Porsche soon.

Take the money & get it fixed. I do not know about car fax, but your car is almost 4, years old. The reduction in value , if any should not concern you, just a good repair .

What shipping company did you use?
I just shipped my S2000 across the country and spent quite a lot of time researching transport companies. You pay for what you get...

Body shops don’t report anything to carfax. I’m pretty sure it’s triggered by an insurance claim or if certain parts, like an airbag, are ordered from the dealer.
