    2014 Audi A6 - APR CPS Feedback

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have taken the plunge and purchased an APR CPS and install kit since I have a 2014 A6 3.0T. All this is for preparation of installing APR Crank pulley to complete my Stage 2 performance mods. I already have the APR drive pulley installed and enjoying life. Living in the Southeast I make at least two road trips to NYC for WaterFest and family visits. As such I plan to upgrade the intercooler to provide better cooling due to the increased power and heat generated provided by the APR dual pulley setup.

So I'm looking for any 'gotchas' or feedback on those running stage 2 with dual pulley and after-market intercooler. Specifically the installation of the APR CPS and subsequent performance gains.

I just completed the CPS and Fluidampr crank pulley two weekends ago and I can't think of any gotchas I encountered. The extra hardware that APR provided was perfect for my install, and I needed no extra parts. In my install, I opted to cut off the plastic tubing from the coolant tank connector and replace it was the hoses that APR included as the plastic was delicate. The CPS mounts with plenty of extra room. I opted to paint the crash bar since I swapped in an RS6 style grille as part of the project. I left the CPS unpainted and doesn't look obnoxious when viewed through the grille.

It hasn't been terribly warm here in New England so I can't tell if it's helping me, but I have high hopes since I could definitely tell there was power loss at higher temps at just stage 2 before the CPS last summer.

Best of Luck, I think it's a worthy investment.

Was hoping to do the RS6 style grille at the same time of my APR CPS install but price point of $1k+ was higher than expected for an RS6 Grille... but never say never when the mod bugs bites...

Glad to know space won't be an issue... having my local APR dealer perform the install for me as new to GA and don't have much experience to DIY.

I used a grille off of eBay. Seller was stone carbon. Superb fit, didn't need to modify at all. I'm very happy with the product and it was $250

Curious why you guys are all going with the APR CPS instead of Merc Racing quad pass heat exchanger. Its less than half the price and supposedly one of the most efficient heat exchangers out there. Im thinking about going stage 2 DP and when I do I'm most likely going to be buying one.

This is the one I'm talking about: http://mercracing.net/shop/air-to-wa...-exchanger-m3/

I've heard great things about it from all the other forum members that have it. They also offer a smaller one that works in tandem with the stock heat exchanger but the bigger one is supposedly better.

Thanks, I'm going to really have to parse out the pros and cons between the 3, I don't want to but it just because it's the cheapest but I don't want to break the bank if there isn't any real performance difference. I'm not tracking the car but I do like acceleration runs when I can. Is there any threads on here with users who have this that I can message?

Stage 2 DP is dual pulley, meaning the supercharger drive pulley and the crank pulley have been swapped out.

I am at the same point, I have stage 2 currently but looking at adding DP and cooler. You have my attention. Did you see a noticeable gain going from single pulley to dual pulley.

I'll let you know soon, my schedule has been hectic and should open up in a little over a week, that's when I'm going to get the stage 2 installed. Was hoping to settle on coming options and have both done at the same time as labor would be easier that way. Found AWE had a cooling system for the 3.0t S4 as well so I emailed them so that brings us to 4 options if varrying cost.

Yep.. single drive pulley resulted in significant throttle response improvement and torque all the way thru the power band.

    never heard of http://mercracing.net/shop/air-to-wa...-exchanger-m3/

I'm staying wiht APR simply for the basis their tune is designed with the ARP CPS and APR DP in testing. At the same time... don't see the need to go any higher as I want to complete my Stage 2 first before contemplating the Ultra Charger for Stage 2+

    UPDATE:

I'm scheduled for May 11th for last series of performance mods: APR CPS, Center Muffler delete, APR Crank Pulley (with associated APR Belt)

I'll be installing a new set of Premium Dimpled & Slotted Brake Kit since about that time for replacement.

I've asked local shop to take pics during the install to show a before/after comparison of the APR CPS installed. Hope to get dyno's at my current mod level over weekend and then dyno'd after I complete my full Stage 2 upgrade.

There are a few you have missed, here is a link to another post that talks about cooling options.
